Question about shift differential

I was wondering, if base pay for a new grad is $18 an hour and shift differential is $3.50 for nights and $2.50 for weekends; let's say you work weekend nights, would that be $18 + $3.50 + $2.50 for a total of $24 per hour, or is it just one or the other, weekend differential or night differential. I'm probably not making much sense and actually am way ahead of the game on even thinking about it. I am scheduled to take my CPNE at Grady on the 8th and have to get through, what's sure to be, the worst weekend of my life before I will even be a graduate nurse. I just always try to stay ahead enough to not be surprised, so I catch myself thinking months into the future all the time.

In most places, you would get BOTH differentials for the hours that fit both criteria (e.g. $24). But you would have to ask the employer about their particular pay practices to be sure. Each employer makes it's own policies about those sorts of things.

Good luck at Grady!!!!! I'm at least a year away, and already nervous! Let us know how it goes. :)
