Question for CA Probation/Intervention

Currently in monitoring program in another state. Working as a nurse. Relocating to CA. Applying for CA license. My question is do you have to work as a nurse in order to complete either probation or intervention program in CA? Hope I can do intervention as the program I'm in now is confidential. Thanks.

    CA may refuse to license you at all. They are pretty strict.

    From what I understand, when you apply, you'll more then likely get an initial denial, which you can appeal, and then reach a stipulated settlement for a 3 year probationary license with the standard monitoring requirements. I've never seen a nurse that's not already licensed in the state be offered intervention, California having as many RNs as it does, the BRN here isn't the best at evaluating the individual.

    That being said, your restrictions are pretty much the same as the intervention group and it's a 3 year program as opposed to 5. Most employers in California don't care if you have a public mark on your license as long as your work history is good

    Thanks for the reply. I spoke with someone at the diversion program and explained my situation. They said they did except transfers from other states. I'll apply and take it from there. Thanks again.

    Yes you have to work 6 consecutive months a minimum of 24 hours a week on CA RN probation. The diversion program has different requirements.
