I'm an LPN and I've worked corrections for several years. Long story short, I had a "failure to recognize change in condition" incident that landed me on probation, despite progress notes and documentation showing the patient that I had seen at the start of my shift had been OK with vital signs and no signs of distress, another nurse checked several hours later when I was doing detox checks for another housing area, my HSA still put me on probation after a complaint to Dora. I have not been able to find work that will take me on with probation. When I have reached out to DORA Colorado, the only nasty response that I have received is "I have a lot of people on probation". Well, that might be true, it makes me feel hopeless, having no direction, no help, and feeling like I'm never going to get hired. Does anyone have any advice for any type types of employment? That might take a nurse on probation? I need to complete one year with a practice monitor that will fill out quarterly reports and send them to Dora before I can get this fixed. I have never had any infringement on my license before, and this came as a huge slap in the face to me after trying to fight my case with my former employer. I do not know where to begin and I feel like there is no hope at this point. I've been trying for months and nowhere. Seems willing to work with me, even after being upfront and honest right away about my situation. If anyone can give me any direction on where I might have an actual chance to get this fixed while maintaining employment as an LPN, please let me know. I have three kids, and it is very stressful not knowing how I'm going to take care of them when every other job is a huge pay cut as well as the fact that my education and everything might have just been a huge waste of time. At least, that's how it feels...
