psychology?

Published

Hello-

I am starting in an ADN program next month. I had some credits transfer over from when I was in college a long time ago...back in 1998. They accepted my general psychology class, so I didn't have to retake it. The other day, I bought a fundamentals book with sample test questions, and there were quite a few things that pertained to what is taught in general psychology. Since I took this class so many years ago, I don't really remember anything from it. I'm wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and had any difficulties in fundamentals because of this. Maybe I should just read a "psychology for dummies" sort of book, just to brush up on basics, like the hierarchy of needs?

Maybe a CLEP-style reference would be good for quick reference when you need it?

Psych was the first pre req I took. It was taken about 4 years before I started. I aced the class but in the 4 years I remembered very little of it when I started my program. So believe me when I say that it is not super important for you to review psych before starting. There will be very little psych content in your first semester, and what is taught will be incorporated with other subjects and be refreshed. Then when you have psych nursing lecture, there will be review and material taught that covers psych nursing. At that point it may be good to review some of the basics of psych, but even then I'm sure you would be fine to just not worry about it.
