  1. Hi jaynettie- Wise decision, lol. I am coming from Westchester County so it is actually commutable for me but if I can swing it, I would prefer to stay in the city to focus and have complete flexibility to participate in study groups, etc. without the hassle of worrying about late night trains back to the suburbs. Good luck with the Chem....I just finished my prereqs this semester. Not how I planned spending my second semester senior year (Chem and Micro both with labs). I was actually looking forward to those great Wine Tasting or Intro to Horseback electives that you usually can take advantage of when you have completed your requirements for graduation but I am honestly glad I'm done. Heading into CNA training next week so I guess I'll have enough on my plate. Look forward to meeting you.
  2. Congrats jaynettie. Saw your earlier post about wanting to look for a roommates. I am also looking for roommates. Feel free to private message me here or text me at 914-772-0926. Either way, I look forward to meeting you in the Fall.
  3. Hi, Congrats! I am also looking for some roommates! Feel free to message me or text at (914)772-0926
  4. Hi all- In a similar situation. Accepted and paid my deposit back on April 25th and still no other communication. I called admissions today and they suggested reaching out to [email protected]. Evidently this is the office that handles these things. According to the person I spoke with, the deposit payment should have triggered the email with further info and your NYU email but seems there are several of us where that did not happen. I have emailed the ops department and am waiting to hear back. Just wondering....has everyone else that is in a similar situation completed their first undergrad degree? I was thinking that maybe mine was delayed because they are waiting to see my final transcript.
  5. Hi Alexisv94- I know others have mentioned that they have not had luck with calling the admissions department; however, I would suggest doing just that. Some time back I had called and the person I spoke with had suggested that if I get into a situation where I needed to make a decision/commitment with another program I should call back and ask to speak with an Admissions Counselor (as opposed to the admissions clerk that answers the phone) and explain the situation to see if they could at least provide a better idea of the status of my application and when I might have a decision. As I said, others have not had success with this but seeing as how that was a suggestion from the department, what have you got to lose. Good luck! Keep us posted.
  6. For those that have accepted their admission.....how long after your status decision was posted and you accepted the admission did you receive information regarding your NYU email address? I just accepted my admission yesterday but have not yet received my email address. Wondering if this is a normal wait time or if I should contact someone. Thanks!
  7. ILim, jaynettie and Alexixv94, The waiting is the worst but try to stay positive. I also applied priority (actually submitted in November) and just received my acceptance today. There are many reasons why things get held up; don't lose hope. If you haven't yet, I would suggest calling the admissions department and confirming that they have everything and your application is complete - just in case. Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting!
  8. Hey blackberrymousse- Yes, it is considered an undergraduate program. Good luck!
  9. Hey nem90- Been posting in this thread but am now just seeing your post/offer to answer questions so here goes... 1. What is the breakdown of student status - i.e., coming right out of undergrad, returning after many years, coming from completely different background, experience level, etc. With such a large cohort I assume it's pretty varied? 2. Since the cohort is so large, do you find that groups break out and study together, etc. I have heard with other programs that are smaller, that the cohort spend most of their time together in classes, study group, etc. Wondering if there is that same kind of support amongst the students at NYU. 3. What is the class schedule like? Wondering how long the days are and how often there is testing. 4. What are you doing/what are most others doing for housing? 5. How often are clinicals and what facilities do they use? 6. Since I am still waiting on my decision (fingers crossed) wondering how strong your stats were and how well you feel you are holding your own. 7. I guess just your overall impression of the program, the professors, the schedule, etc. Thanks so much. Anything you can shed light on would be amazing!
  10. Another question of curiosity....of those that have been accepted, are any of you still finishing up your first undergrad degree? I know that people have gotten accepted with one or more pre-req still incomplete but wondering how they feel about not having graduated yet. Also, of others - accepted or not - just wondering how many are planning on going into this program directly from undergrad.
  11. I believe you need the BLS for health care providers.
  12. Well, I applied on November 14th and still haven't heard either. Got a request for further details on one of my pre-reqs and was told that it meets the requirements but I guess now I have to wait for my application to go back for review. Ugh!
  13. Since you have already been accepted, I think it is safe to say that your course fulfilled the requirement.
  14. No, I guess it was just the online component and the bouncing around. Not sure I would have been so quick to decline if there was more time to decide. I had other programs that I was waiting to hear from that I was very interested in. Northeastern just wasn't high enough on my list of schools to be willing to commit without hearing from the others. Given the short time frame that they give you, it was either send in the $1,000 and commit or decline. Hope that makes sense.
  15. Agreed. The review system must be so random. I submitted my application on November 14 and only just received an inquiry for a syllabus for one of my pre-reqs. Seems they are just getting to my application now even though I submitted so early! This process is torture!
  16. Yes, they must have. Links are not permitted on this site. Thanks for setting up!
  17. I had both the Micro with Lab and Chem with Lab outstanding which I am currently taking and as I mentioned I have not graduated my first undergrad yet; will be graduating in May. As for the structure of their program with the online classes and jumping from campus to campus, it wasn't really a good fit for me. I have taken online classes in the past but for this program I really wanted to feel connected to the entire cohort and be in classes with them for all of the curriculum. Seemed like a better support system to me. If you are interested in the program, I would go ahead and apply. They are pretty quick to render a decision. I applied on February 6 and was accepted on February 16. What have you got to lose? Only thing is, once you get accepted, it's not one of those programs where you have plenty of time to decide and then can throw a couple hundred to hold your place. Their deposit is $1,000 (non-refundable) and is usually due two weeds after decision is received.
  18. Hi veronicamarsh- That was erroneous information. I applied to Northeastern and was accepted and I still have an outstanding pre-req and don't graduate from my first Bachelor Degree until May.
  19. Hi aeanderson12- 1. Lifespan Development is a Psychology course and yes, you are correct it would be the same as Developmental Psychology. A course that basically covers the life span of baby through adult. 2. I couldn't find any information regarding the age of courses that would be accepted. Usually it is 10 years so you would be fine; however, I have seen 5 years on a couple of programs so my answer is not really valuable. 3. The name listed on the website under the FAQs is Jan Kavazanjian. I also had emailed with a question and received a fairly prompt response from Karen Allard from the Nursing Department Admissions. Hope that helps!
  20. Hi ambro011- I would totally be interested in considering a rooming situation. Do you want to connect off-line to chat?
  21. veronicamarsh, No, your post was not discouraging at all! I meant that it was disheartening that after providing the syllabus it seems to go back into the system and take weeks before decision. It's all good! Good luck; let us know.
  22. Hi blackberrymousse- They asked for Microbiology and Nutrition. I had taken the micro in my Freshman year but since I am retaking it for a better grade and with a lab that I needed for some other programs it was easy to pull that stuff up but my Nutrition was also taken back in Sophomore year ans since then our school has changed the online course system so I wasn't able to pull the specific syllabus. Sent in course descriptions and anything else I could find, lol. Hoping that will suffice. Trying to think positively about their consideration of my application; however veronicamarsh's comment about it taking weeks after their request to her is a bit disheartening. veronicamarsh, keep us in the loop if you hear back.
  23. Hey everyone- I also applied priority (submitted November 14) but seems that doesn't really matter much. That said, I received an email yesterday from an admissions counselor who was looking for a course description/syllabus for two of my prereqs. Wondering if that means they are considering me for acceptance - assuming they wouldn't care if the course is suitable if they don't like what they see in my transcript, recommendations or resume and were just planning on rejecting me, right? One can only hope, lol. Sent that back right away and hoping that a decision of some sort will be forthcoming. Agree with the others on the recommendation letters, mine were never listed on Albert either. Probably as blackberrymousse stated that since they are not required they don't put them on the list. Also agree that it doesn't matter if you are still completing prereqs as I am still finishing up Chem in my last semester of undergrad (which is not one of the courses that they wanted the syllabus for ). Good luck all - fingers crossed!
  24. Hi all- Wanted to pass along information that I received when speaking with the admissions department today. Totally aware of the ract that each time someone speaks with a person at admissions they get different information so take this with a grain of salt. As far as seeing any updates in Albert: Nothing will show up until a decision is made. At that point, there will be a link that states Application Decision. Decisions will go out via email between mid-April through late May. You will receive an email that states you have important information and then you check your Albert portal for that information and to access the link mentioned above. Deadlines were March 1 for priority and April 1 for regular but he mentioned that many times those that were in for priority still are not the first to get emails (not sure I understand that logic but that's what he said). So even though my application was in and complete by August last year, I could be notified in May rather than mid-April - frustrating. The gentleman I spoke with was more than accommodating and mentioned that if you approach a deadline for commitment on another program and are really pressed for information you can call and ask to speak with an Admissions Counselor (someone who is a higher level I guess than who I was speaking with) and they can discuss timing and give you advice on how to proceed - probably not something to take advantage of but good to know in a pinch. Anyway, sounds like there is still quite a bit of waiting to do. Again, if any of this information is contrary to what you have been told, I apologize and would love to hear what other know and when people start hearing.
  25. blackberrymousee, shamadi- I too was going to apply to PACE. Didn't have all my pre-reqs complete before the deadline for Fall 2017 and was more interested in the Pleasantville campus so would be going for the Spring 2018. They had an info session this past week and I asked a friend who goes to PACE to attend and give me info/feedback. Yes it is much less expensive, especially since I could definitely live at home and save on housing costs, and it is supposedly ranked as a top nursing school but I agree with you blackberrymousse, I have also heard some iffy comments about their ABSN program. The feedback from the info session also was a little less than glowing - seemed as if they are a little less organized and a lot of discrepancies in the answers to questions. That said, it seems that the admissions guy that was also in attendance gave an impression of real strictness on their requirements and stressed how selective the program is. Impression was that they are very independent so they must be doing something right. For me it's all a moot point because for the Spring 2018 program decisions would not come until after other programs already begin so would be risky to turn down acceptances without an assurance of getting into PACE. Seems things are quickly winding down....hopefully we hear from NYU soon as I have narrowed down my choices between that and one other program. Fingers crossed!
