I finally passed my NClex after 3 and a half years! I'm thrilled to say the least! Now I'm curious as to how I will be able to land my first job being out of clinical setting for this long. Will I qualify as a new grad for a residency program? I think it will be best if I start at a residency program so I can get comfortable in acute care setting again. Any advice on how I explain this gap from graduation date to applying for my first RN position? Do I disclose that I've failed the exam?

I'd like to update that I've Passed my Nclex and would like to encourage anyone else out there that failed the exam and doubt themselves. YOU CAN DO IT! Put your mind to it...quit your job and study full time if you have to. I ended up having to quit my full time job and work part time and luckily got a private loan to make this happen. Do whatever you can to study as much as possible and believe in yourself! I used Kaplan and some Uworld. I'd recommend doing all of Kaplan....it works! @glowbug, BSN, RN Wow thanks for your encouragement. Everytime I take it I feel sick and horrible. I also have severe nursing test anxiety and afterwards I would swear to never do that to myself and take that test again! But then time would go by, and I'd talk myself into trying it again because I want to be a nurse. It's upsetting and disappointing and hard not to be down on myself and beat myself up thinking I'm not cut out for this. I think it is lack of confidence and not believing that I can. It's hard to believe you can when you've failed: not just once but multiple times. I'm sure you know what I mean. I would like this next time to be my last time and never have to take it again! However, i'm Trying to see if there's other options available with my degree. Thanks so much for telling me about your experience. It's nice to know that it's possible. I'm just going to give it my all. How did you cope with your anxiety?

Well I am also curious as to what options are available for someone who can't seem to pass the exam. I'm also extremely frustrated and upset as I've been taking jobs that aren't real careers to try to study more and now i'm just more and more in debt and need a career as well as put this test at rest so I can actually move forward. I don't know how to pass it anymore. I am planning on taking it one more time, but at this point I'd like to know what other career choices I have with a BSN with no license. Ugh even typing this is upsetting me. Thanks in advance!

I just got my result and I failed. What did you guys do differently in order to pass!??

So I finally learned to calm my nerves and went int I take my exam last Tuesday. I still haven't gotten the result, but it's the first time I took the exam while able to stay calm and focus throughout the whole exam which is a first for me! I am hoping for good news, but I think most people hear positive results within the first 48 hours? Has anyone passed and took longer to hear back?

Congratulations! You're an inspiration! I just Retook mine for about the 5th time this last Tuesday and I'm waiting on the result. I have feeling I didn't pass since I haven't heard from them and typically I know people hear within 48 hours if they pass. How did you do it? And what did you do differently? I'm beyond frustrated at this point but I am not ready to give up. Any advice would be so appreciate.

Akee, BSN, RN. Congratulations on passing! What a nice news for the New Year. I've also taken mine 4 times. I'm really feeling doubts and fears rising as I start putting my efforts into it again. What did you do to overcome that part of it? I feel like I'm having a hard time believing in myself and that I can do it. What is the 35 page note? Where can I find that? Also I'm not sure what Mark K is either. Will you guide me to those and where I can find that? Again, congratulations on becoming a nurse!

@Tamlyn32 thank you for the tips. I think I'm going to stick with UWORLD and go through the hurst material a little bit at a time to refresh material.

@Tamlyn32 Congratulations on passing! What a great thing to find out right before Christmas! @nurse551 I am trying Uworld this time around as I've been reading that it's helpful. So I'm not really studying material anymore and strictly doing questions. Aiming for 100-150 questions per dyad to take it at the end of January. How have you been studying?

I've been reading a lot of people's study plans and it seems a lot of people are using uworld. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'll try it out. Good luck on your next try as well.

Hi, I graduated nursing school a couple of years ago and have failed my NCLEX a few times. At this point...I don't have much confidence that I can pass. The first time I took it, i took Kaplan and second time I took Hurst Review. I do have major test anxiety, but I think there's more to it than that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone struggled a few times and then found something that helped them pass? I'd take any recommendation and ideas on what I should do in order to succeed. thank you in advance, vsRNtoBE
