  1. CRNAs at my level 1 trauma hospital practice under the ACT model with anesthesiologists. They have a variety of options for hours to choose from. Some work 5 eight hour shifts, 3 twelves, 1 twenty four and 2 eights, with not a lot of call if any. Holidays and weekends are shared. Outpatient hours vary greatly but an example is an outpatient ortho surgery center. Those CRNAs tend to work a more traditional 5 eights, no call, no weekends. Go to gaswork.com and look at the postings for the various facilities in relation to what hours they are expected to work.
  2. We should probably start a private facebook group soon for our class. I'm sure we all have a lot of questions and ideas we can bounce off one another to make this transition a little easier. I'm excited to meet you all!
  3. CCRN_CVICU I just put that I'm grateful for the opportunity and look forward to challenges ahead. I'm moving from Columbus!
  4. I think I only got half of them right. I have my CCRN, have always done well academically. A ten question test at the start of of an interview is not indicative of your intellectual or clinical cability in my opinion. The content of three of the questions I missed I had never seen before. I went back over all my notes/prep material for CCRN after the interview to see if it was lack of prep but it wasn't. Oh well, if anything it goes to show that even though you might not do well on it you can still get in. Stay positive
  5. ICURNBSNCCRN It took them a little over a week from the time of my interview to when my acceptance letter was postmarked. I was extremely nervous at the beginning of the interview. Partly because it was my first and only interview but also because St. Elizabeth was my #1 school and I wanted so badly to do well. I should have been more confident but you live and learn. Two or three times I told them I didn't know the answers to their questions. It wasn't due to lack of preparation, it was more because my ICU doesn't see some of what they asked me, which was absolutely true. I think that although they would have preferred I had those specific experiences, they were pleased I was honest and didn't try to BS my way through them. My saving grace was I felt I did really well at explaining my reasoning for pursuing anesthesia and what experiences brought me to this point. I also made a small joke at the very end of the interview, not saying that made any difference but it definitely gave them a good laugh and showed I'm not just a nervous nelly. Good luck in your future, hope you get some great news!
  6. Sorry I am getting to this late, hope the interview went well for you! I interviewed there a few weeks ago and have already been accepted!
  7. Hello everyone! I am submitting my first application to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, OH (my hometown) by December 31st. I have a little over a year of med/surg ICU experience and just passed my CCRN. I have a 3.27 GPA from by BSN at Ohio State, and 301 GRE. ACLS, BLS, and getting my PALS this month. I have charge nurse experience from my first job on a general medical surgical floor. I feel that I have strong references but I'm most concerned with the interview. Do you guys have any tips on what and where to find study materials? Anyone else apply to this program? Also, has anyone read any helpful anesthesia materials that they felt helped them on interview day? Any and all advice would be much appreciated. At 19 I shadowed a CRNA who was a family friend and decided that day this is what I wanted to do in life. Now that I'm 26 and the time has come its almost surreal. Good luck to all of you!
