So some (I'll try to keep it brief) background information: I have an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from a state school (gpa 3.3). I exited the field with little direction, thinking I wanted to be a nutritionist. I started taking my pre-reqs at a community college (3.94 gpa), but after my nutrition class was feeling like I had made a mistake. Around this time I met a friend who introduced me into nurse practitioning, and I was filled with direction/awe/love/passion etc. etc. Luckily, the pre-reqs were basically identical for both fields. The problem was I had missed the deadline on several direct entry NP programs, and felt vastly unprepared to explain why I wanted to be in them. I applied to Seattle U's DNP program (I live in seattle), and applied to OHSU and NYU accelerated BSN nursing programs for fun, as a backup. I reiterate: I was kind of in a time crunch, and had no idea how competitive any of these programs were. In the meantime, I have done much more exploration: I've done some nursing assisting, done some shadowing, and really fell in love with midwifery. I volunteered for our state midwifery organization, started writing a bill for washington state medicaid recognition of certain doula care, and have gotten some really great midwifery contacts. I have an interview this monday for a dialysis patient care tech here in Seattle. The dilemma: I got rejection letters from OHSU and Seattle U's DNP program which was largely expected in february. Yesterday... my acceptance letter for NYU's ABSN program rolled into my email. I had completely forgotten I had even applied. So... what's a girl to do? This program is SO EXPENSIVE. And my resume has only gotten better. On the other hand, am I wasting a year by not diving into this program? I feel so torn. What an amazing opportunity. But I can only imagine that I will have more options next year? Any advice? HELP!!!!

^^ Your post was something I really needed to see! I have been feeling pretty anxious today. This thread tends to get saturated with good news, but there's still a lot of us who haven't heard back. It's all about perspective.

Yes- NWguy28, I think you need to take a deep breath. You have no idea how they decide the order in which to contact applicants. You could be at the top of their list.

Hi guys! I, too, am applying for the APNI program. My GPA from the last 60 semester credits is a 3.31, a 3.9 in the pre-req courses, and a 311 GRE score. I'll be submitting my application when my last letter of recommendation comes in. Good luck to all and can't wait to see some updates!
