  1. I have been a PCT at Fresenius for about a month now and cannot get the hang of it to save my life. The computer work and patient care came easily to me but the machines are another story... it seems like I always forget to do at least one thing. Everything I touch gets messed up one way or another and I feel like all I'm doing is slowing everyone down and getting in the way. My trainer told me that she hates training, which makes it worse because now I'm self conscious that I'm not doing things fast enough or that I make her job harder. But she's the most experienced one there and the other experienced girls are not patient enough to train. She knows a lot and I want to learn from her but I can tell she doesn't want to be training me. I really like the work, I am just overwhelmed and frustrated! Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you manage to work it out?
  2. After a 12 hour shift my knees are usually sore and tend to swell a bit, but lately it's been ridiculously painful and I've had to ice them at times. How do you stop or prevent this kind of pain? I'm tall and skinny with very knobby knees so I've always had issues, maybe certain exercises or compression sleeves might help?
  3. Wow that's crazy! I agree though, time may be a huge factor but safety is more important! I am in an outpatient clinic and would work MWF 5-5 and most likely 4 hours on Saturday. That's a huge reason why I'm looking forward to the training, competence is a biggie. Hopefully I can surprise some patients and show them that the newbie knows a few things lol. I have also heard that dialysis is a challenge so I'm interested to see what it is like. Hospital nursing is a different world, I have major respect for nurses who have the stamina and patience to work in a hospital, especially the ER. Best of luck to you!
  4. What is the 12 week training like? I worked at a family practice before this so busy is my forte lol.
  5. I was just hired as a PCT with Fresenius. I have CNA experience but no dialysis experience. I begin the 12-week training next week and am beyond excited! However the training site is a 2 hour drive from where I live! What exactly should I expect my first few days? Will I get to finish training at my clinic after a few weeks or will I be commuting the entire three months?
