  1. I would highly recommend getting your DUI expunged if you haven't yet. It won't show in private background checks for non-public hospitals. It also helps to get it expunged because there was a law that passed where boards cannot reject your license when you have the record expunged or dismissed. When applying for the RN boards, make sure you are honest and disclose. You have to write a letter and you can explain your situation there. You definitely want to have a packet that includes everything they ask for on the website. I went through something similar although it wasnt' DUI. You want to have all your documents as well as evidence of rehab. Your letter of explanation has to be good and so do your recommendations. Good luck to you. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.
  2. I don't know how to help but have you tried calling the BRN? Going to the BRN to see if you can talk to someone might help. I flew to the CA BRN in order to get someone to look at my application faster. Because I pleaded them to see if I can talk to someone in enforcement, I was able to get immediate attention regarding my application. Mine was one misdemeanor 10 years ago that was expunged. I didn't have an attorney but I think I had good luck because I went there physically.
  3. I don't know which state you are in so I only have experience with CA BRN. They took forever to process my application. I got my test date about 2 months later than all my classmates. I called to get them to forward my application to enforcement because the licensing department was holding it. I hear the enforcement takes a month to two to review your application and another month before the licensing finally approves your application. So definitely expect a delay in the process. I was able to expedite my application by calling in and making sure my application was attended to and I personally flew to the BRN to talk to them in person. I believe that helped me a lot.
