Why are nurses sexualized?
Who cares? America is WAY too sensitive anymore. I'm a woman and obviously a nurse and I could care less. Would I tolerate comments from somebody? No. have I ever dressed as one for Halloween? No. But I don't care enough about it to get upset. There is no such thing as Utopia in this life. We will never be rid of biases and prejudices and sexualization. It's what makes us different.

Should I take Med-Surg job or ICU job working near ex-husband?
Glad to hear you didn't let him pull strings, ESPECIALLY since he is a narcissist. Being the daughter of a narcissist, I completely understand on all levels the sensitivity you have about the subject. Emotional abuse is a serious thing and is just as detrimental as physical abuse. Congrats on the job and the new-found you via therapy.

I don't think anyone was calling you pathetic. Take a deep breath and relax. It's a touchy situation. I think Sour Lemon was just stating how that would make Sour Lemon feel. That said, I think having him pull strings and being in his network is an awful idea. I'm a sensitive person, so I personally would be too worried about the situation to think and act properly. Also, as someone said, who knows what strings he could pull in a negative way.

Working in LTC. New Grad.
Mainly posting to follow because this is interesting. I just got a job for the same shift at a SNF. I start Monday. Wondering how it will effect me as a nurse, but being new nurses we have to realize that being new is a disadvantage. We should be excited to learn and get experience no matter where we are. There is something to gain with every situation. Try having a more open mind and positive attitude. I know it's hard sometimes, as I'm a sensitive person. But the more good vibes you project, the more will come back. Good luck!

First Nursing Shift
I can't comment on first nursing shift yet, as I haven't started just yet (next week, yay!). But I was an NCP (CNA but does more) in a busy hospital on an understaffed medsurg unit. I think it's normal to feel behind and slow for a while. You have to get in your own routine and figure out your way of doing things. It'll take a few months at least, I would think. I dont think your facility is being very fair in only giving you two weeks.

Hey there. It has been 2 "what" since you tested? Days, weeks, months? I tested 9/13/16. I called a few days later. It takes two weeks. Day 15 I checked the Dept. of Education site and it was not posted, but it was posted on Nursys. Make sure you check both. Got my copy in the mail a week later. Hope this helps
