  1. HI! So basically it means she has all her admission requirements completed.. so after all past years and winter 2016 get accepted. She's got a chance..so yes it's a nice term for being wait listed. She has a pretty good chance of getting in next intake as her GPA is good, and she's been wait listed before.
  2. Hey :) So from what I encountered last intake.. everybody from my semester who had high GPA'S Plus the leftover people who where not accepted from the summer 2015 intake where accepted in the sept 2017 intake. I was on the waiting list and was over looked as my gpa was below 2.9... I am looking at waiting 2 years to get into my second year. If your gpa is not that high.. expect to apply for the next term. Good luck!
  3. I get it.. I've been in your shoes. When they opened this term they moved the cutoff to the winter 2016 students. That is after they accept any applicants who finished the courses first. When I first applied in 2016.. I was told the students from summer 2015 where given priority, also higher GPA's get first pick. As long as you apply your on the radar for the admissions officer. Honestly if I had been told a year ago this whole process would be two years just to enter my 2nd year.. I would have gone to the interior. Also be aware that fall 2015 had an extremely high amount of students.. Douglas college opened xtra classes in patho and micro.. and the intake for each term is about 64 students. Stay positive!
  4. I did a program with CDI- what a waste of money.. I do see lpns in the private sector. At my work we get cdi/Sprott shaw etc. The price is high.. sometimes doing it the longway may seem too rough but you get better pay as these schools have bad reputation's in Fraser health. That being said ther are a few exeptions to the rules.. some people make it out of the private sector. Just expect lower pay and dismay when people like you but read private college. Also what my course cost.. I could have payed double my course in public schools.
  5. Hello people, I finished my requirements in fall 2015. I applied for fall 2017 and unfortunately I was shortlisted twice! Today I received my acceptance for winter 2018 and have until March to pay my deposit. This whole journey has left me pretty humbled.. I realized I will work even harder for my GPA to be higher going into my second year.. English 1130 brought me down and I will strive to keep my GPA higher than 3.0. The most likely reason I probably did not enter fall 2017 as my GPA was under the cut off of 2.9, now I am happy to say I will be going into the nursing program in Jan 2018. Would love to hear who else is in.. we are going to be together for the next three year's people!
  6. I'm so chocked... I'm hoping that what dillybar said about the acceptance letters being released in staggered stages is true about my application. I have emailed Rosemarie a few weeks ago and still have not recieved a response. Yes I was told that I was #35.. I dont understand why I haven't received a response.
  7. Um remember mine was the same as dcnursing.. I didn't get anything. mine has been initial req complete since winter 2017 application.
  8. Hey Leslie! No nothing yet but I think DCnursing cleared up that if we are going to get offers it will be after the 9th of November as that is the deadline for the people who where accepted. I don't know if all the seats have been filled.. only from the people on this forum who have confirmed.. nothing from other classmates. It's hard to stay positive for sure..
  9. Me, meryl and DCnursingstudent had all received an email indicating we wold be entered into the system for free.. honestly I've been told by the administration to apply in every intake while I was taking my courses.. I was told that those who where in the wait list would get preference. The only difference though is that they consider those people but they also have to qualify the past students who where unable to qualify last intake.. and then consider the high GPA students.. then the wait listed. I spent over 100.. I get your pain but we have all gone through this.
  10. Yup at least 2 more intake's the waiting time to take a four year course is 6 years with the waiting period.. crazy!
  11. Hey, I emailed her today.. got an automatic message saying that she's on holiday since saturday oct 29 to Monday Nov 7. My application still says required admin completed. Let's stay positive.. we haven't got a letter for non acceptance or for waitlist. She's probably not going to start emailing back till she comes back. I remember last intake another Douglas student didn't get a reply till like a month and a half after registration. It's only been a month for us and we received emails... she has to filter in the students who applied on Oct 3 too.. even if I'm on the tail end.. I'll be happy. Here is the message: Thank you for your email. I will be away from the College from Saturday, October 29th and returning on Monday, November 7th, 2016. I will respond to your emails in date order upon my return. Please Note: All Fall 201730 Nursing application emails - The Fall 2017 Nursing Program is now full. Applications to the Winter 2018 intake will open on the first business day of February 2017 at the Education Planner BC website - Douglas College - EducationPlannerBC . Unfortunately, I am unable to respond to individual inquiries regarding the status of your application given the high volume of applications we received. Thank you for your patience throughout the application process. Rosemarie Bakker, Admissions Officer, Office of the Registrar, Douglas College, Coquitlam Campus. I think this is a broad message and she's got the people she has to contact.. the home page for the nursing program also indicated back in the first week of october that the program was full sof yeah don't take that to heart. STAY POSITIVE!
  12. Hey guys I emailed rosemary and she's on holiday till the 7th of November. OMG I'm dying...
  13. Your amaze balls... I walked in there last year and they told me my English was not equivalent. Never trusting transfer bc again also.
  14. Hey, Check on BC transfer guide.. I did my English 1130 and 1106 with Douglas but it does not transfer to BCIT. So you have to take additional courses to be abe to apply.
  15. Hey guys.. so yeah I checked too.. bcit I had to take english again cause douglas doesn't transfer.. same with the bio''s they don't transfer to vcc. I guess she must have taken extra classes to classify.
  16. I bursted laughing when I read this.. thank you for the reassurance DCnursingstudent. Three weeks right.. maybe by the end of the month some of us will have acceptance letters.
  17. Hey leslie_dhy Not that many people I know got an email, so stop being so hard on yourself! I honestly hope we got in.. if she entered us then we had complete requirements. Like DC nursingstudent said.. it's all about being the top 60. Positive thinking!!
  18. Hey! Mine is the same application from winter.. it says initial requirements completed. This wait is killing me!
  19. Well I started Jan 2015 I followed the course outline for the nursing program... First semester was: English 1130 Bio I Social Science course Psych 1100 Summer: Bio II Stats English Fall: Patho Microbiology Psych 1200 I had been out of the school system for over a decade when I started up again. My first semester felt heavy but I continued to take shifts at work and school full time. Honestly if your able to go for the full 4 but if not 3 is perfectly doable. The way I did it though allowed me to concentrate on my stats and bio and my last semester microbiolgy had separate lab so it was like an additional class. Good luck!
  20. Hi, Well it took me the 3 semesters to complete my required courses, so yes I took the summer semester to do my bio/english/stats finishing in fall 2015.
  21. Hi nursingkid08, I received no letter or emails till about a week ago when rosemarie emailed me to tell me that I was on the wait list. I emailed back and was told my position, also informing me that winter 2017 was full and no chance of getting in. Like leslie_ said it's now a waiting game.. I logged online today and saw my application up but no decision. The suspense!
  22. Morning! Wow that the system didn't crash like last time. YES the suspence is killing me as well.. my stomach is in a knot.. don't know if I should cry or be happy. I wish everybody good luck and hopefully we get in for the fall 2017 semester. Regarding the GPA- when a student enters registration at the same time as another the GPA is then considered, student with the higher GPA is offered a seat. From my knowledge its the GPA of the last 10 courses you've taken. I COULD BE WRONG.. so maybe the best person to ask would be the registers office. WISH EVERYBODY LUCK!!
  23. Hi Basketballgirly, Honestly Im worried that I won't get in... just because rosemarie enters us into the system she didn't guarantee us a spot. Last time I registered it opened at 8:30, I would get everything ready and set up in your account and just be ready to go as soon as possible. I was lucky to register the first time before the system crashed, but honestly competing with higher Gpa''s could prevent my entry. Augh the stress is killing me.
  24. They have always had that rule :) if an applicant applied at the same exact moment the one with higher GPA gets in.. but also they have to have finished their pre reqs from the date the registrar set's. First come first serve is really not how it works. The seat is given to the students who have finished their pee reqs first. . Such as people who finished back in summer 2015 they got priority over people who finished in fall 2015.
  25. Honestly I applied everytime.. I was able to get on the wait list for 2017 winter even though I stand no chance of getting in till Sept 2017. I say apply.. if in case your the top 50 the registrar will email you and put in your application for next semester. This is happening to me for fall 2017. Hope this helps!
