I was advised by a few people that volunteering anywhere at a hospital will get your foot in the door to internal postings and is a step easier than being external applicant
Does anyone know a good place in specific that easily hires nurses with little experience? I am not a new grad but I have had a lot of trouble finding work. Anyone in the same boat have any prcticasl ideas how to go about? Should I volunteer at my local hospital 2-3 days a week? An for how long before they would consider me to work?
I graduated in 2010 and with difficulty found a very short duration job 3 years later as a 2 month camp nurse. I am an RPN. The board within my province requires that a nurse must be in practice within 3 years. Aside from that the emotional toll it's taken on me is additional. I've been in part-time RN courses on my way to earning a BScN but still feel really down that I haven't really gathered up skills or had the opportunity to work consistently. What are some suggestions that may work? I have a small child and another on the way and still willing to put in some hard work to get an RPN job anywhere. It seems my lack of experience is not landing me any interviews. I gave up for a while being very upset that I pay yearly union fees and have graduated 6 years ago and only was employed for 2 months. Is anyone else on a similar boat? I am not even considered a new grad and I don't have much experience. Any words of encouragement or practical ideas are appreciated. I live in Ontario.
