  1. Hey Sam_5, I am on course to take Advanced path, pharm, and leadership this fall.
  2. Sure! I applied to 2 other schools as well. Marymount’s application was actually a bit more detailed than the others. The process has you go through NursingCAS (70$ fee) to provide your background information (Experience, Transcripts, References, Statement of Purpose). I would recommend to take a look at application deadlines and make sure you allow yourself enough time to provide careful responses. I believe the SOP had a 500 word limit - I had 2 other people review it, and I revised it multiple times (It is hard to incorporate things like your background experience, Why now? Why Marymount? Why FNP? etc in a short letter). The transcript process can take a week or 2 to upload / verify (optional 60$ fee to have it done for you, I chose this option for accuracy purposes). It is required to have 2 references that must be a previous instructor or a supervisor, a link will be sent to them (such as a manager; a charge nurse is not accepted). I liked that Marymount then responded within 2 weeks after the deadline for phase 2 - interviews. It seems that across the board that you will be asked to briefly introduce yourself followed by questions related to your understanding of the FNP role (issues that FNPs may encounter and possible solutions, where is healthcare going from an FNP perspective, etc). After the interview, I waited a week to hear back for acceptance. Tips - be confident, do your research on the school (mission statement, values), and highlight your strengths.
  3. I would like to connect with anyone who is attending Marymounts FNP program this Fall (2020). Also have you registered for courses yet ? I seem to be having some trouble and am attempting to reach out to the nursing department.
  4. Thank you both llg and houtx! You both provided excellent suggestions ... I feel like I now have a rough blueprint to follow. :)
  5. I graduated from an associates RN program this past spring. I have started my BSN program this fall semester. I will haven the option to replace some of my BSN courses with General Nursing MSN courses in the spring semester. I originally thought I was headed in the right direction - get my BSN quickly and get the general entry MSN courses out of the way. Have a year off of school and just focus of my RN job. (The NP program requires at least 2 years of RN experience for admission). Then start the NP program. I began researching NPs. I'm not sure if there is a high enough demand for them. Also hospital positions state NP / PA...I'm not sure how that works or what that is exactly. If anything I'm now really confused. Also if anyone has experience, what is the NP school coursework like...I read a few articles that scared the life out of me. Some said it was way harder than Nursing school. I understand it would be hard but as long as it is manageable and I could still work at least part time. The reason I want to advance my career is because I know I cannot handle the physical aspects of being an RN forever and for financial support for my family. If anyone has any other career suggestions, they are welcome. I don't want to jump into the MSN courses next semester if I'm not going to end up becoming an NP. I appreciate any help and guidance, and someone to explain the whole NP / PA thing - like is there more education involved?
