Looking for small hospitals near Houston for jobs
Hello all, I will be a December 2018 graduate from a direct-entry level MSN-RN program (not advanced practice). I'm not looking to get paid more because of the MSN. I will be moving to Houston from Ohio and would be open to starting in small town hospitals outside Houston as residency spots might be competitive in the area. I suspect I may be automatically weeded out by HR since I dont have "BSN" written on my resume (should I include a explanation of the program on my resume?) Ideally I would like a new grad ICU position. What are some nearby towns within 1 hour-1.5 hour drive? Thanks!

Where to take NP Pre-reqs flexible start date
Hello all, I'm in a generalist direct-entry MSN-RN program. I haven't narrowed all schools I want to do a post-master at but somewhat confused on what I will need. As I have time my last upcoming semester I want to get started and free up my time during my one year of work as an RN. I know I will need advanced patho and possibly pharm (not sure if all schools will accept my 500 level pharm since its for the generalist program and I got a C in it). Preferably a course with a flexible start date, most economical, and widely accepted at programs. Also, how do NP programs view 2 Cs (personal circumstances) I got (I repeated one course) my current GPA is 3.45 now and I'm expecting to finish with 3.6 .Have recently had 4.0s. Hoping my performance in the pre reqs will offset Cs as well. Hoping to get into a respectable program/good training for Nps not for-profit programs! Thanks!

Relocating to Houston, any hope for this entry-level MSN grad?
Hello all, I will be graduating from an entry-level masters and seeking information about job hunting in the Houston area. So far all job posts say a BSN and recruiters have not replied to my inquiries (or maybe not familiar?). I chose the direct MSN route due to FA purposes but now wondering if I made a horrible choice...although my program is respected regionally. I understand as a new entry-level grad I'm not more qualified than any other RN...I just want an entry-level job in a Houston hospital, please !? Am I doomed?

prospective nursing student GPA low GPA, road to recovery and applying
Hello All! Any help will be much appreciated. I'm looking for programs that would look at my non traditional background. Basically, I graduated with a BA Liberal Arts with a 2.1...took years to even fix my credit deficit to be able to be able to graduate.. transcript is all over the place...my last 60 credits are around 3.4.. and I have a few pre-requisites left for which I have a close to 4.0 in. but the problem is a lot of school are looking at my graduating institution GPA not including my postbacc work grades or even grades I transferred in towards by BA! I have worked in healthcare (experience as a Phlebotmist, CNA, and special needs team leader) and some research experience as well in infection prevention. Am I being unreasonable with trying to find an accelerated BSN/MSN program? I've recovered from my undergraduate days into a highly motivated student looking to pursue my original passion. Eventually down the road I'm looking at pursuing CRNA training or CNS as my final goal. Any advice/programs I should look into? I would prefer master entry programs but not sure I'd even stand a chance with my stats. Anyone in similar boat? I'm 29.
