Evergreen Valley College Spring/Fall 2017
I applied and got rejected. I'm at SJSU's nursing program now. A little bit about the application process. EVC is lottery based meaning your your GPA doesn't need to be competitive to get in. You just need a lot of luck by your side to get your name drawn because they only offer limited seats and tons of people apply. Applications are only held one time per year. Be sure that before you apply you meet the prereq GPA cutoff. It should be listed on there site (prereq GPA= the GPA you earned in just Anatomy, Micro, Physio, English, and Stats...some schools include Stats while others don't. Check EVC's web). Once you get in, they usually give you a 2 week time period to complete the TEAS exam and score at least a ~65% or above. EVC has a beautiful campus and I would totally recommend you apply, given your GPA meets the cutoff, but I wouldn't only invest in that school. Look for other CC's that offer lottery. The more schools you apply to, the better your chances. I know how stressful it is applying to programs, but just keep your head up! I gotta get back to studying for finals now haha. Good luck!

SJSU Spring 2017
I understand. I've already emailed a big paragraph to Dr. Malloy, as well as the director of nursing explaining to them my situation. Unfortunately both of them are on vacation and won't be back until next week. I really do hope they understand the situation I'm coming from and open up a spot for me.

SJSU Spring 2017
@G33L I really do appreciate all your feedback! I as well, am confused why they would decide to change my major and allow me to register for classes even though they have me pending still...it honestly just doesn't make sense. I contacted both Sue Malloy and Katherine Yago to help fix this dilemma. The people in office couldn't give me a clear answer as to why my major was changed. All they told me was "I don't know what to tell you"...and other nonsense with no clear answer as to what actions the department will take to help resolve this. They basically want me to find my own solution to the problem without addressing there fault to the situation. I'm honestly upset with how they handled the situation. I'll def make sure to be in contact with my advisors because this isn't right.

SJSU Spring 2017
Hey guys, so remember how I said my major was changed to Nursing, but I never received a letter or phone call yet thinking it was most likely just because of the holidays...so I called up the office this morning and asked about updates. They said that I wasn't actually in the major yet and that I'm pending at #1. Problem is I dropped all of my past classes already and registered for the Nursing classes. I can't just go back and get my classes back because its been a week since I dropped and they're already filled up. I cancelled my flight to New York as well and declined the other schools offer thinking I was in the SJSU program. The workers at the office said they can't really do anything about it and they don't know why my major was changed to Nursing...I'm honestly shocked and depressed that this is happening to me right now. I'm left empty handed and most likely have to take a semester off after taking a semester off for Spring 2015. I don't want to waste time. I've contacted Sue Malloy, but she's on vacation. Do you girls/guys know who else I should address this problem too? I hope this is all just a big mistake

SJSU Spring 2017
Hey everyone, I'm on the waitlist, but recently after checking mysjsu portal to look to see if my grades are posted, I noticed that my major was changed to Nursing. I haven't received a letter yet, so I'm confused if I got accepted or not. Can anyone let me know whats going on?

If you don't mind me asking, what CC program did you recently get into? I've been looking at some recently.

I'm sure you haven't been rejected. The chancellor cutoff for EVC is 75% I believe. The fact that they stated they are "looking over my apps" is a good sign that both of us are entered into the lottery or are going to be at least. I believe they would tell us if we didn't make the cut. Good luck to all :)

I just recieved the email a few hours ago, but they just emailed me saying they have recieved my transcripsts and they are processing my application. They didn't really mention anything about meeting the chancellor formula, but I'm positive I have. It's well above 85% as far as I know. Good luck to the both of us!

SJSU Spring 2017
So I contacted Sue Malloy and she said I'm good. All I needed was an uploaded screenshot like the rest. Good news for anyone here that used an outside vendor like I did

SJSU Spring 2017
Does it note anywhere in the application what you need to do if you didn't test at SJSU?
-
SJSU Spring 2017
Yeah, I just did. Thanks for the info!

SJSU Spring 2017
Hmm, I didn't take the test at SJSU though. I registered for the test via ATI's website and I took the test at some random facility in Santa Clara. I don't remember anywhere in the application where it said we had to send our official TEAS transcripts to NursingCas or SJSU...otherwise wouldn't there be a section reseverved for TEAS verification in the app? All I remeber was having to ulpoad a screenshot of our scores, not actually having to send the scores í ½í¸³

SJSU Spring 2017
I didn't bother sending my official TEAS transcript to SJSU because I thought we just had to upload a screenshot of our scores like NursingCas said. Now I'm kind of worried. Can someone confirm if we had to send an official TEAS transcript to SJSU or is it just a screenshot?
