Last Friday, September 9th, I took my NCLEX exam after 15 months of putting it off since graduation. I figured that there was no way I could pass it because I had 2 weeks to study and I have 6 kids to take care of... two of which are under age 4. When you pay for your test, you only have a year to take it and I knew my year was almost up. I went on and saw that my deadline was September 13th, and the farthest date out before it expired was the 9th, so I went ahead and scheduled it thinking that when I failed at least I would know where the testing center was and an idea of what to expect when I went back. Boy did I pray before going into the exam. If God wanted me to be a nurse, it was all in His hands now. There was no way I could pass it without Him. My test cut off at about 105 questions. I had quite a few select all that apply, Several things on meds, quite a few OB questions, and I left there feeling like the tests in school were much harder. I still felt like I failed though, because I only was getting about 50% correct on practice tests online, even though I thought I was doing better than that. I wanted to know if I passed or not. The suspense was killing me. That's when I read about the PVT. About 24 hours later, I went back on to try and register again and entered in the correct credit card number but the wrong expiration year. I got the "good pop up". Everything I was reading online said that was 100% that you pass if you get it. I was in shock. Could I really have passed? So I researched it a little more and found that there are a lot of people that do not get the good pop up but pass anyway. Only a few people said they got the good pop up but failed. One of these people tried before the 24 hour mark. That is when I started checking my board of nursing online. I am in Ohio. I took the test Friday and all weekend it said I was "exam eligible" and "in review". On Monday after 5 pm I checked again and there it was... my RN number with the magical word "active" next to it. So, does the PVT work? I still don't know. All I can say is I got it and I passed. Good luck to all of you.
