Hi, My partner and I have decided to move back to our home country the UK. I have read the NMC requirements for registration and feel my situation is unique and not fully represented on their website. Im looking for any advice. Here is my situation - 10 years experience as an Enrolled Nurse in a mix of aged care and mental health - just qualified as a RN with a bachelor of science in Nursing (adult nursing equivalent in the UK) - My 12 months experience as an RN before I move to the UK will be solely in Mental health as that is where I have been employed for the past 7 years. (I am not a mental health nurse by UK standards and I will have had no experience in adult nursing post obtaining my RN) - I am not a grad nurse as per my workplaces standards, I am completing a transition program on my ward which ends in July. - On arrival to UK I do not want to work in adult or mental health, I want to work in a nursing home, or EMI. What I need to know, advice please! - what are peoples opinion on my obtaining registration with the NMC given my current registration in Australia and experience. I understand that I have minimal experience as an RN but collectively I have a lot of experience in the area I wish to work in which is aged care. - what can I do to improve my chances prior to immigrating back home (I left when I was 6 but I have dual citizenship to UK and Australia. Thankyou for any feedback. I feel a bit hopeless at the moment as I feel the past two years I have spent getting my degree has been a waste of time as I seem to be unemployable in the uk.
