I think the point everyone here is missing is that you're currently not even in school, you're working a full time job and have an entire year of failing grades. In regards to your MD dreams, everyone wants to get to the top of the ladder, but no one wants to climb the ladder. Doctors and nurses had to work extremely hard to get to where they're at. There were a lot of sleepless nights, blood sweat and tears, sacrifices, and not so fun stuff they had to do to get to be able to do the "cool stuff". The reward is so great because of the amount of work and dedication it takes. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. While not impossible, your chances of acceptance to med school are very slim. At this point you'd be lucky to even get into an RN school with a year of failing grades. Also, by working full time, if this was really is your dream, it sounds like your priorities are out of order. You'd also have to work extra hard to even climb out of the hole you've created with your grades. For every F it takes twice as long to even turn that into a B. Also keep in mind, the ADCOMS at med schools do not accept grade replacements, they average all your grades, so an F and an A would leave you with a C average on failed courses. If I were you I'd get my LVN while working on improving your grades. When your grades have sufficiently improved, bridge to RN and get your BSN. You can always go the NP route if you desire to be some sort of provider.

Well I got my package email today as well and all my grants are there. I already knew I wasn't award Cal Grant this year probably because of my income and economic history, but my Pell is there as well as another one called State University Grant. I also have loans to subsidize the rest but this is based on my 2015 income which was higher than this year. For those of you who just have loans and no grants, have you renewed your fasfa for the 2017/2018 school year? This first became available a few weeks ago and if you haven't filed the new fasfa that could be why your grants aren't showing. Remember the aid is provided for the full academic year.

Stats are: overall gpa 3.46 nursing gpa 4.0 teas 90% 3 years EMT experience TBH I'm not studying any questions at all for the interview.

bgon can you please advise as to what blood work needs to be done? It didn't specify in the handbook or the link posted. Is it just a CBC? Also were you required to do a urinalysis and syphilis test as well?

That pass/fail thing made me nervous I'm gonna go drink my sorrows away. When I sober up hopefully I'll have been accepted.

I'd prefer partial points to pass/fail. Doesn't seem fair to deny someone who got straight A's for years for what amounts to a game of pictionary. Anyhoo its out of our hands I honestly don't know what to think anymore.

From what I gather West Coast is a last resort school for when you have exhausted all other options. This is why there is a stigma associated with West Coast. Why else would you wanna be saddled with 130k debt out of school? Also If you fail which many do, you still have to end up paying. I'd rather do five semesters at CSULB for 15 grand, which I probably won't have to pay all of with the help of aid. Also, I'm not sure how West Coast credits will look to grad schools if any of you plan on going that route like I do.

I had an interview at CSULB, they invited 90 to interview for 80 spots so I'm just waiting to hear back from them as well.

It depends how far you're willing to travel. In socal as far as CSU's there are CSUSB, CSULA, CSULB, CSUSM, CSUF. Not really sure of private colleges. I think West Coast University has a 3 year BSN but I wouldn't touch that place with a 10 foot pole, that college has a bad reputation and its crazy expensive. CSULA also takes health related work experience into consideration so if you have that then it will help.
