  1. Everyone, thank you so much for all your input. I feel a little better about getting food arranged while going through the program. I start my orientation Monday then we start diving in! Thanks again and best of luck to all already in or starting soon :)
  2. As much as my husband hates those hamburger helper meals he may just have to put up with a few or some similar styles while in the program. Guess I should make sure to have a few on hand for those "just in case" moments. Thank you
  3. I actually just read about that two days ago. There is one somewhere near me doing it but I will have to verify the address for how far away it is. I hope it works out well for you because I was curious about it too.
  4. Oh my ! Congratulations on graduating from an accelerated program! Thank you for your help. I'm h HOPING that doing some prepping on paper (a few weekly grocery lists with recipes) now will help while in the program. Your situation is similar as it is just my 5 yo, hubby and me. Problem for me is my hubby is in school for his masters and working full time also. So he is willing to help as much as he can but it sure will be a trying 2 years!!
  5. Thank you everyone for the advice and encouragment. I only have one child but she is 5 so I hope I am able to manage at least 80% of her meals to be good ones. But will start the program knowing that we will all survive if that doesn't happen. I am thankful that I won't have to work during the program but I do have limited support so praying for the best! Congratulations to those who have made it through the program and best of luck to those in it or starting
  6. I hope we both figure out a helpful way to balance. I'm so nervous! Best of luck in the program :) I think I may just end up with a lot of one pot meals, casseroles and slow cooker recipes
  7. Hello all! So I start the nursing program the second week of Janurary and am working a list of meals to prepare. Any suggestions or tips for feeding the family while keeping some sanity with studying? I was already thinking about some crock pot meals and casserole dishes that may be quicker. And using one of the weekend mornings to prep all the ingredients that need it for the upcoming week. Obviously these are theoretical as I haven't practiced yet. So how did some of you mom's out there manage with the meals? Thank you all in advance for the advice!
  8. Good evening everyone, So the more I try to ponder on this the more I feel my hair falling out. Currently the three schools I am looking into are Clayton State (currently attending), Georgia State University and Emory University. (thought about University of West Georgia but their accreditation expires during my program stint....). My main trouble with choosing is that I am married with a 4 yo currently in preschool with little to no support for our child to be cared for other than school/after school program. I have spoke to Emory about their program because they have it listed as "day" program and the lady I spoke to said that class and clinical hours would only be Monday thru Friday and roughly like a 9-5 job as far as hours. This sounds PERFECT for my situation but the cost is a major hiccup. Clayton state I am attending now in my final semester of prerequisites but they don't have that same schedule but are a lot cheaper. Not to mention that Clayton has a 90 mile radius around the campus open to clinical locations and I already live 45 minutes away making a drive to clinical sites possibly being up to 2 hours or so one way. Georgia State I heard is a great school for state but also does cost a bit more than Clayton and also they said that their program is 3 years instead of 2 for traditional. I do understand that nursing program and the field itself if not easy but I want to be sure my baby is cared for. My husband is also currently attending his master (2.5 years left) program at Emory and working full time. I guess I don't really have a question more I was just wondering if my situation seems hopeless or has someone else made it work?
  9. Good morning all! I am in my last semester of prerequisites before apply to the nursing program. Also I am a mother of a 4 year old precious little girl. How do most of you handle your child's interest in your anatomy, micro and patho books? For instance, yesterday my daughter came to me when studying patho and was asking questions about an ouchy picture in my book. It was a hand with several electrical burns. I gently explained to her what it was and why but is this something maybe I should sheld from her? Part of me feels it may be something too advanced for her My Little Pony loving eyes but another part of me thinks it could be educational and I don't want to discourage her desire to learn. Thoughts?
