Hi FutureRN_Bri, Congratulations on your acceptance! :) I am just finishing my 1st year at OC so I can offer a little insight into the program and offer MY PERSONAL pros & cons of attending the college. PROS: Small class size. We started out with 26 of us, compared to the 150 at the university. We have sadly lost 3 classmates this semester but we are all a pretty close knit group. We have amazing instructors that get to know us, rather than a face in the crowd. My friend got accepted into both, and OC worked out to be about $9k cheaper. We have an amazing passing rate, with no one failing any classes. I believe having a close relationship with our instructors has helped here. I did all my upgrading at OC so I am more biased to it. I also live further away so the college is closer for me. CONS: I believe at the University you can take some courses in advance. In 2nd year we have to do Patho & Pharma but are unable to take them during the summer, which I believe can be taken at UBCO (Please do not quote me on this as im not 100% sure) Their scrubs are nicer then ours LOL There are more options for clinical. At the college we only get placed in Kelowna or Vernon, where as at UBCO West Kelowna can be an option for clinical placement. I believe there are multiple times for classes that you can register for, where as you cannot choose at the college. We do A LOT of group projects at the college, not sure about the university. We also have a clinical skills test at the end of 1st year, which I believe they do not have at UBCO. Im not sure if that would be a pro or con for some people, but i found it really helped me learn my skills, and showed my instructor that I was capable. I hope this helped you in your decision a little bit. I appologize if my information isn't 100% correct, all the things I have heard about UBCO is through friends so it may not be exactly accurate. Congratulations on your acceptance @momo 1998!!! So excited for you! I will be attending OC in the fall too, so we should be in the same class Fingers crossed for you ladies!! I applied at UBCO also and haven't heard anything from them either!

Yes I was accepted at Okanagan College :) I applied at highschool level, as my previous grades from post secondary had no relevance. I applied with 95%

I just heard back from OC :) So nice to see an acceptance letter! How about you? heard anything yet?

Hi there, My first time posting on here! Just wondering if any of you lovely nurses have gained your BScN through UBC Okanagan, or done the first 2 at Okanagan College then gone over to the university? If so would love to hear about your experience, and what your GPA was upon applying to get in? and what the course is like i.e course load, schedulle times? I've applied to both of them for Fall 2017 and just looking for any info on what to expect. Thank you kindly for any info :)
