Should I take Developmental Psychology online or in class?
I vote online, as long as you are comfortable writing quite a bit. I took it that way and it was an easy A. Good luck!!

Pre-Nursing student taking Sociology online?
I took Sociology over the winter intersession. I had to stay disciplined, but if you are comfortable writing a lot, it's a breeze. Definitely scope out where you take it, and figure out how the class is presented - and find one that works best with your learning style. Good luck!

Is 35 too old to start from Scratch?
I feel like I always comment on these threads, probably because I'm in the same boat-ish. I'm 45, I have a previous BA in another area. I'm applying now for September entrance. I'm currently taking Microbiology and I'm the oldest person in the room - including the professor. WHO CARES? I also have the curliest hair. Doesn't matter. You don't need anyone to give you permission to do what you want to do. Seriously. Don't make my mistake - I let myself get talked out of applying to nursing school when my kids were younger...and yet, here I am. Just do it. We may be too old for the Olympic Gymnastics team, but we're not too old for this.

How old is everyone?
I know your post wasn't directed at me, but I wanted to say: GO FOR IT! I'll be 47 when I finish, but I'll be 47 whether I do it or not, right? I also have a previous Bachelor's degree and many of those classes carried over for the ADN. I'll be pursuing an online BSN when I'm done with the ADN - it was the fastest, most economical road for me to take. Good luck to you!

Teas 6 Test This Thursday
I just took the TEAS V today. I did not find it all that difficult, but was completely stressed about the math. In the end, helping my 12-year-old son with his math homework was probably the most helpful thing I've done, in terms of preparation. The book I used was pretty good there. There was much less straight-up algebra than I anticipated (3 questions, maybe) and more with fractions and percentages, and expressing them as a decimal. The best advice I can give you is to check your work, think about whether the answer makes sense and read carefully. I got a 96 in math, and I LOATHE math. I ended up with an 86 overall, which put me in the 96th percentile. I'm planning on taking the A&P test through Excelsior since I took my original class too long ago, and can see how having it fresher in my mind would have helped. I bought the Mometrix "Secrets" book on Amazon, and just used that. There were definitely some science questions I took an educated guess at, and I certainly could have used a little more review there. I ended up with a 72 in that section, which was enough to put me in the 83rd percentile. That was essentially relying on my memory and common sense. Science-wise, the emphasis appeared to be on the endocrine and cardiovascular systems. There also appeared to be more than a couple of questions about skin and it's layers. If you're shaky, focus there. As far as the English goes, know the parts of language. What's an adverb? Things like that. That being said, I didn't study for that (again, I was too busy freaking out about math) and got a 95. Good luck.

How old is everyone?
Move over, Grandma!! Hahahaha! I'm 45, applied for September entry into ASN. I already have a Bachelor's in Economics.

Professor forgot to grade 8 assignments!
I would definitely move up the chain of the command, but politely. It's important that you get things moving.

What to do with a bf who just wants me for my degree
Buh bye now. He's got to go. You're doing great things for you and your future - he sounds like the kind of guy that will suck the life out of you - financially and emotionally.

Career changers - is it worth the change?
Well, I'm 45 and hope to enter nursing school in the Fall of 2017. Doing my pre-reqs now. I agree with the poster who essentially said "I'll be 47 eventually, might as well be 47 with my RN." This is what I've wanted to do for years - this is what I played at as a child, and this is where I know I belong - I'm only annoyed it took me this long to get here...but that's another story. Good luck!!

On-line classes
Well, I just finished my first all online class - Developmental Life-Span Psych - got an A!! I'm a strong writer, which definitely made all the difference. Just started an accelerated Sociology 101 - whole semester in one month - so far, so good. Hope you're all doing well!!

Homemaker to RN @ 40
I'll be 47 when I graduate with my RN. 40 seems so...young! So, heck no, you're not too old!
-
Am I too old????
I'm 45. I'll be 47 when I earn my RN. I sure hope you're not too old...because then I'm ancient. The time is going to go by anyway - might as well do what you want with it! Best of luck to you!!

I feel incomplete
I can only agree with the sentiments mentioned above: regret gets you nowhere. I'm 45 and headed back to earn my nursing degree. I could waste time regretting decisions I made, but they make me who I am today. Carry on, and you'll be fine. It certainly won't matter in a few years. Good luck!

On-line classes
I can tell you from the perspective of someone who has never taken an online course before: it isn't too bad. I'm currently taking Life-Span Psychology online and Chemistry in person. Our grades are based exclusively on writing skills - so if you're not a strong or fairly quick writer, it could be a slog. In the future, I think I'll always try to determine what grading is based on to be certain that I know what I'm getting myself into. I don't think I could take a math- or science-intensive course online. I need the interaction with a professor in those types of classes. Good luck to you!

What classes are you taking? Fall 2016
Hey all - I'm re-taking Chemistry and taking Life Span Psychology online. I took (and passed) Chem I & II during my undergraduate - but it was too long ago - I had to re-take it. I'm jealous of you guys going to school full-time - I'm only taking 2 classes because I work full-time. Good luck to you all.

BSN not helpful
Hmmmm. I'm doing exactly that - primarily because it will enable me to actually work as nurse more quickly and then earn my BSN - hopefully - an NP. Locally, there is an accelerated RN-BSN program, but not a reputable accelerated BSN for those of us that hold non-nursing Bachelors.

32 years old and ready to switch my career to become a nurse! Am I too old?
I sure hope not - I'm 45, and just signed up to RE-TAKE some of the pre-requisites since I took them SO LONG ago! (I graduated from college in 1993 with a degree in Economics, and just enrolled to get my RN.) Good luck!!
