Thank you! I did apply for a rehab position but didn't get the job. It's great that you managed to get into acute that way. Was it for Interior Health? Yes I think I will try to use an "in" via references. I dont have a particular person in medicine I know well enough, though I have previous coworkers who may have some knowledge they can pass on. I will also look into contacting HR if possible. Thank you Companisbiki for the tips :)

Hi All I am an LPN in BC who has been working in Complex/LTC for 8 years with no hospital experience except 5 weeks while in school. I have been applying to Acute Care on Interior Healths' website for approx 3 months for many different casual LPN jobs. I am SO ready for a change to acute. I've known of many LPNs who have made this transition and done very well. But, I feel there is a certain stigma to LTC nurses; like we perhaps don't know how to properly nurse? Granted, I will need to brush up on a few skills, but I am very experienced in many other skills- assessments, communicating with Dr's, injections, dressings etc etc. Wouldn't a hospital prefer an experienced LPN over a new grad LPN (which they seem to hire alot). I would appreciate any info or whatnot!! Help me get an acute care job lol !!! Many thanks in advance
  3. TRU stands for Thompson Rivers University, a very reputable University here in British Columbia, Canada. I assure you, not bogus whatsoever. It's a very competitive program to get into first year, but I am trying to bridge into second year, and was just fishing for some comments from previous LPN's who made it into second year.....such as; what was your GPA to get in, were there many LPN's trying for one empty seat, how many seats usually become available in second year, etc etc etc Hoping there were some TRU trained nurses that could answer those questions Many thanks!
  4. Has anyone out there gotten into the TRU LPN to BSN program in previous years? I am just about finished my pre-reqs and am REALLY curious what my chances are???? Would appreciate any info :) I sent off my application a few weeks ago. Also, how did the BSN program feel after taking the LPN program? Which was insane by the way! Thanks!
