A resident got hurt on my care..?
I was giving tub bath to resident who is one person transfer. When I finish, she had to hold on to bar and I proceeded to push her electric chair so she could sit down.I accidently pushed the button too hard and it jammed on the bottom of the tub and hit her ankle in process. She screamed in pain so I notify the Nurse...she was given pain killers. There were no swelling or visible bruises but she complained of throbbing pain by the end of my shift. I'm afraid now that I might lose me job is she doesn't get any better.I apologize profusely but she told me not to worry about it.I feel bad..will I lose my job? Has anyone been in this situation

Is working as LPN in Nursing home easy?
I have a friend who told me that she wants to go to school to work as LPN.I told her if she would be interested in becoming a CNA for little bit to see if Nursing would be a field she wants to pursue .She said NO,she doesn't want to do all the lifting and grunt work and that LPN's in Nursing home just pass medications in LTC.Well I haven't been an /nurse so I can tell first hand if its easy work.I just want to hear from LPN's who work in Nursing homes how the work is like.I've considered going for It as well

Current CNA Pay Range
I'm in Canada and I currently make $20 an hour.I started at 19 but now make $20 after being with the facility for 4 years. However, they're some facility that are owned my the government and you start at $23 an hour That being said,I'm surprised that CNA's make so little on US reading from other post.

Hopeless cna
I've been a CNA for few years .I stayed this long to pay off my students loans. That said,it's honestly the hardest, underappreciated job that I have ever done in my life.I work in a Nursing home..I have to take care of so many people at a time that everything is rushed. We usually end up cutting a lot of corners just to get it all done. You're constantly racing against the clock, especially if you actually try to do your job right. Some of the residents are really hard to deal with. They can be very picky about everything and purposely waste your time, and then you feel like a jerk for ignoring your other residents all that time. It can get frustrating. Then there are other residents who beat you up for trying to change them. This is not the job for me.I decided not to pursue Nursing because it's the same stress in my opinion. I don't see the difference expect having more liability and responsibility over your shoulders

CNA's,Housekeeping and Dietary Aides make the same salary in LTC?
Thank you guys for your response... very informative. That said,I do not plan to stay as CNA long-term because I hate it.I dread going to work. For that reason I have no interest in pursing Nursing ,which is why I went for dietary aide instead. however,I was merely wondering why dieatry aides and housekeepers are paid the same as CNA's when they don't work as hard as us and don't have much responsibility. This is the main reason why I'm going into deatry aide because they get paid the same but don't go through what CNA's do.Working with food is so much easier than working with humans in my opinion.I know that everyone pretty much covered why we get paid based on what we know not what we do

CNA's,Housekeeping and Dietary Aides make the same salary in LTC?
I have been a can for few years and working into getting into dietary aide since they make the same salary in LTC's even Hospitals where I live. With that being said, I'm perplexed why dietary aides and housekeeping get paid the same as Cna's when they don't have as much responsibilities in opposed to CNA's Furthermore,CNA's are possibly the most important and yet least respected, lowest paid job in the healthcare field. We have a back breaking job where we have to lift our patients endlessly. It is a thankless, underpaid (for what we go through!), over-stressed, early killer of a job...This type of work is becoming even harder with even more responsibility and no pay increase where I work.. Everyone wanting everything at the same time. Stepping out of a room to retrieve something only for 15 call lights to be going off and you can't walk past them. Answering them all and then going back to your original room only to have a patient now file a complain basically a lot of things that can put your license on the line. Not to mention that it can be extremely mentally and physically exhausting with having to possibly work with patients ('residents' if in a nursing home) that are confused and agitated while trying to help them get bathed, clothed, transfer the person from his or her bed to a wheelchair and such. I believe we should make more foe how hard we work.Just looking for opinions

Everyone wants me to take Nursing?
I've thought about the security issue .I know a dietary aide who is going back to school to be LPN .I asked her if she doesn't like working in the kitchen and she said she does but with Nursing you'll always have a job hence why she's studying Nursing

Everyone wants me to take Nursing?
The LPN here make 23 an hour in most LTC.And in retirement homes they only make $20 bucks an hour.I'm not sure how much the RN make. One of my colleagues thinks Dietary aide is demeaning because you're serving food /doing dishes and help preparing meals.I disagreed with her because I don't want to go into Nursing just for the image and to look cool.I have to like what I'm doing. .

Everyone wants me to take Nursing?
I'm CNA and hate it so I decided to do Dietary Aide instead .However, some of my colleges are always saying ,you should do Nursing, its better. The thing is, I don't think I will like Nursing .And with dietary aide you make the same as CNA were I live which is $20 an hour and you won't be doing any grunt work. The nurses make $23 an hour which isn't that much difference from CNA and Dietary Aide. And some LTC that are owned by the government I could make up to 23 an hour as dietary aide which is decent salary without having all that responsibility on my shoulders. Even one of the house keepers was like"since you're already psw why don't be an RPN?What's so special about Nursing? Also what Nursing is really like?Is it an easy job?
