  1. I am trying to decide how much I can work while in Georgetown FNP full time program, and ensure I am successful. Currently I plan to work part time (every other weekend, 12 hour shifts), also I do not have children and my only other obligation is that I am the co chair of a council at my work (requires about 4 meetings per month about an hour or so long each). I do want to be able to fit in quality time with my husband, friends and family. The program is 19 months long and I hear it is very intense (83% needed to pass, several closed book proctored tests per class, plus multiple papers and assignments). I copied and pasted Georgetown's Full time curriculum below. I was hoping someone that has been through this program or a similar one might have some advice on what it takes to get through this program successfully and how many hours a week/day should be committed to studying. Thank you in advance. 2. Thank you for your reply. I think I'm set on PMHNP for my future, I just need to know it is possible to build a wall and keep work life separate from personal life.
  3. I am currently an RN BSN, trying to decide on a future career path. I am drawn to the psych specialty because I think it will give me the work life balance I am looking for. I don't want to work too much overtime or on call. And I want a job where it will not be too physical. However, I suffer from depression and anxiety that can get pretty bad at times and I worry that working in this field could exacerbate it. As of now, when I work with psych clients it hasn't, but I worry that surrounding my self with hearing so many negative things all the time may have an affect. Any other psych nurses have mental health issues that can weigh in on this?
