I am an RN leaving my first job, an LTC after 10 months. The place was a nightmare. It was very unsafe and unethical. I tried my best to wait and find another place of employment before leaving but it seemed to get worst as time went on. When I was hired many employees told me most RNs there don't last a year and I would not be different. I see what they mean now. It has been a struggle to find a job, I had an interview for entry level and DID NOT GET THE JOB. How can some one get turned down for an entry level positon that's embarrassing. I just know if I stay in this place my license is at risk. I am damned if I do or don't! I am also in the middle of taking care of two elderly grandparents with dementia that I live with. I don't know what will become of my career. I just wanted to work and go back for my BSN/MSN bridge program. HELP I don't know what to do! Examples of what happened: Patient's missing medication(Hiv meds) Patients falling and hitting their heads and them not wanting to be sent to hospital Supervisor covering for incompetent nurses and pointing fingers at other nurses Knowing a patient would benefit from attention of an MD and being told to lie Hospice patient dying in front of family without any PAIN MEDICATION and told to wait tomorrow to help them! The facilities bad rep has been well documented by the STATE!!
