  1. I realize that this post is almost 3 years old, however I am curious as to what path you chose to go down. I am an RN with 5 years bedside care experience and I am already feeling "burnt out". I currently working on my BSN, and am researching different opportunities available, since I am extremely sure that I no longer feel the desire to do bedside nursing.
  2. That's great! But unfortunately I do not personally know anyone working in the the insurance field. I'll just keep trying.
  3. Thank you! I had wondered if there was a way to get in more locally but really have no idea who to go through or how to go about it.
  4. I am currently working on my BSN, and I am considering a career change from clinical care to working for an insurance company. Does anyone have any advice on the hiring process for companies like United, Anthem, and Cigna..etc. I have applied for several positions but it seems like that's where it stops. I know that these jobs are probably hard to obtain, but I was just wondering if anyone has experience going through this process and might have some tips for me. I can't seem to find any numbers to contact. Thank you all in advance.
  5. Thank you for all of your help. Another reason I am leaning toward this is the fact that my husband has a career that has him away a few times a month, and he is also being transfered next year to the Cincinnati area. A job that allows me to work from home would give him the flexibility that he needs. Our children are 10 and 11, so they are in school during the day and old enough to occupy themselves during the summer. If you don't mind me asking, which company do they work for? Unfortunately I do not know anyone in the insurance aspect of nursing so I don't rally have anyone to ask these questions. Thank you for all of your help!
  6. Are they any insurance companies to stay away from? Is a telecommunicate position fairly flexible? Is the salary comparable to working in a clinical setting? How long is the hiring process? I'd there advancement opportunities in bigger insurance companies? I appreciate any information available. The more I research this, the more I feel like it's an area I would love to get into.
  7. Thank you! I have put in a few applications through United but have not yet heard any responses. I'll check out the others too.
  8. I have been an RN with and Associates Degree for 5 years. I am currently enrolled in a BSN program with an anticipated completion date of June 2017. I would really like to get into a position in care coordination or chart review while I finish my degree. Unfortunately in the area I live in, there just aren't many opportunities in this field. I have looked into job postings for insurance companies and saw that many of the positions are telecommute (work from home). Does anyone have any experience in this? With having 2 children (both in school) and working on my BSN, this seems like a very good option for me. I would love some insight from someone who has experience doing this. Thank you in advance.
