Grading + and - system
well, there's a couple of reasons why I am not applying at Junior College. I dont want to say too much; especially, because there are people on this site who tend to blow things way out of proportion. (Not you, but a lot of others on this site) I guess I will say: I want to stay at the company I work for. For the position that I want, it requires a BSN or higher. It will be a smarter move (for me) to get a BSN. :)

Grading + and - system
That is really interesting they allowed your friend to apply with a C. All of the universities i have looked into will not let you apply with a C in Anatomy, Phys, or micro. But, good to know. Thanks.

Grading + and - system
My initial post is not about expecting my instructors to round my grades. My frustration is the grading system at some of the schools that I am considering applying to, is not the same as the schools in my area. 2 of the programs I would like to apply to base their nursing applications on a point scale. And for their point scale example: B+ 3 points B 2.5 points B- 2 points. (This is just an example) The schools in my area do NOT do this. So, an 88.9% will not show on my transcripts as a B+, it just says B. If we used the same system other schools used, those extra points can help a whole lot. I feel there is a big difference between someone who gets a 89% and someone who gets an 80%.

Grading + and - system
I never expect them to round grades, but she was a very tough grader. Example: For our final, we had to research a topic that she gave us and make a poster board. You would think that as long as you follow the guidelines she would give you full credit. But, she didn't. She looked at it and pointed out what she felt I could of done differently. Really? If you don't like the pictures I chose, that's fine, but don't deduct 10 points. Anyways, when applying to certain schools, they give extra points for having a + as opposed to a solid B. The + on my transcript would have helped, but my school doesn't do that. í ½í¸•

Grading + and - system
I live and attend school in the Bay Area. I am researching BSN programs to apply to. Some here and some schools are out of state. I noticed that some universities use a + and minus system. The junior colleges in the bay area do NOT use this system. It kills me, because if we did, there are a lot of classes where I would have received a B+ instead of a solid B. This would have helped me so much when applying to a BSN program. I took nutrition last fall. I got an 88.9% and my instructor would not round it. (I know, its sucks) when I talked to the admissions people at UNLV, they said, sorry...we can only go by what the transcripts say, so if it's a B...then it's a B. Not a plus. This is so frustrating. 😩

Chamberlain college Rancho Cordova CA
Is there anyone on here that is attending the Chamberlain College in Rancho Cordova CA?? The program is fairly new. I went to the orientation last month, and I really liked it. I know that a lot of private schools want to tell you what you want to hear, so I would love to hear from actual students. My coworker is attending Chamberlain in Las Vegas. Of course, he said it's difficult, but all nursing programs are. 😕
