  1. Hello, I have a question. As a student nurse in oncology right now I find myself intrigued about the implanted ports. My question is this what exactly are oncology nurses assessing for. From the research, I have found drug side effects, such as alopecia, n/v, fatigue and so on. But I am more interested in what one would see as far as adverse effects. What's is the nurse watching for when they medication is being infused thru the pump to the port? Is it only extravasation, and I don't say that lightly? I, also, understand assessing for patency but that too is to decrease the risk for extravasation, and occlusion, right?
  2. Guess I'm being sensitive I am in the mental health course for six weeks so much information is being thrown at us. I needed someone to say what I was thinking to reassure myself I was on right track. Right now I dont have a specific question sorry.
  3. Thanks I hava made note cards for the meds including the maoi's, tcas, atypicals, and so on. It looks like from your response I am on the right track. Sorry to be so vague I didn't need to ask a single question more reassurance.
  4. I am trying this a different way. I asked a question in another forum and was taken as not wanting to study. My situation I am in mental health and it's a six week program. We are learning so many disorders, is there techniques anyone used to help remember so much information thrown at you at one time. Just suggestions in general. From my last post I'm not sure how to ask questions so I'm not told I want someone to do my homework.
  5. I have to say this comment made me upset one because I study everyday and this being my first time here was rude. I ventured out from just my class and professor seeing if someone else could help me minimize so much information thrown at me at one time and you took it as me not studying or wanting to do my homework and such is not the case.
  6. I wasnt asking anyone to do my homework for me at all. I am studying my mental illness book and there is so much information that I HAVE READ I was just wondering if some information was more important than others. When I made my note cards I didn't know exactly how to sum up depreasion so I came here for insight. I understand that depression is because decreased levels of serotnin and norepinehrine. And so depending on where we lack we take either ssri's or snri's and so on. Again I was looking on insight as in dont forget to look at this or that not someone to do my homework for me
  7. I have to learn the disorder in the whole.
  8. Hi Can anyone help me with a few points on what to remember for depression?
