Hi. I just got hired for a local jail and they are currently on the 2-3 (or 3-2 ) shift. 2 on 2 off, 2 on 2 off, 3 on 3 off ( or something like that), 12 hour shifts. They hired over 5 new nurses because they are switching to 4 on 4 off, 10 hour shifts and to EMR. They are still trying to work out all the kinks, so they havent come up with the official hours, I just know that for training, I will be working 8-5 Mon-Fri. In the interview, they just asked which shift would I NOT want to work, and I said nights. I would like to know if anyone work the 4 on 4 off 10 hour shifts now, and what different hours (around the clock) does your facility work. Just trying to get an idea. 2 of my current co-workers will be there also, one will be overnight so thats why im asking for full 24 hour shift times. Also, I've been a nurse for 4 years, but only clinic, so some skills from school have been forgotten, and I'm curious on what skills will be used in the jail, and do they re-inerate usually or just expect you to know. This site has been wonderful because I get an idea on what to expect. I was so excited at first, but the closer it gets to me starting, the more nervous i get. Thanks in advance!
