Hi all. I work in the ER as a patient registrar and so far everything has been okay. Well lastnight a 16 year old came in and he was considered a John Doe because he didn't have any ID. He died on the way to the hospital and it was really sad. Well this morning my aunt sent out a text about his death and come to find out it was her step-son. And because I would never violate HIPA I just kept my mouth shut about him being in the ER lastnight and sent my condolences. When I saw his pic I did remember him from when we were younger. So my question to you guys is have you ever dealt with a family/friend death while working in the hospital? How did it affect your work? It's really been on my mind all morning because I was in the trauma room when they tried to save him but it just didn't happen. And I didn't tell my aunt bc that is a violation and it's not really my place. All answers are welcomed. 😊

I just seen your reply thank you for the info. I'm going to patient registrar. I do not have to do a long orientation bc I did 6 hours of computer training at home through a link they sent me. Afterwards I was told my supervisor will give me a call about the schedule and when to report to work. Thank you. I will keep you updated! I just finished my DD forms this morning.

Thank you. They just sent me an email today to complete my W4's, My DD info, and proof that I'am a US citizen. I guess I should be registered in the system by the end of the week. :) going to pick up my scrubs now.

Lol I feel the same way. I've done it for years and I've never had to deal with being evicted, my bills have always been paid. I couldn't believe my boss made that remark. So much disrespect!

Wow. Calling you stupid? That was really out of order. The nurse at my facility told a few of my co-workers that they were beneath her and all they do for a living is wipe ass. I was like wow

You are absolutely right. I just try to keep a smile and move on when I encounter someone that is rude.

Yes I personally never had a bad experience. But besides that I've also heard it from a few co-workers.

I know that. But I was just asking in general only because people tend to say " the nurses are rude." They tend to label them. That's why I asked. may I ask what you encounter was like as far as " rude nurses."

Do you think that nurses receive a bad reputation for having a bad attitude? Is that something you have heard before? I have never worked around RN that has made me feel like " lower class." ( so to speak) or made me feel like " wow, he/she has a bad attitude today. When I did my externship back in 2011, every nurse I came in contact with was very nice to me. Sometimes we would even have a little chit chat. But some people tend of have a different out look on nurses. I honestly don't think it's fair. I have a few family members that work in the hospital and they feel like the nurses can be a little rude and at times and lazy. But once again, I have never had that experience. I honestly think the nurses are the heart of any company and their jobs are pretty freaking difficult at times. Even though I'am not a nurse, I truly understand. But my question is, is it something you hear a lot? And so does it frustrate you as a nurse for people to feel that way?

Thank you Hun. I did all my paperwork ahead of time. Honestly I'am not doing my orientation at my hospital. They are sending me to their other location for orientation. Than afterwards maybe I can go back up to my hospital and see if I can take the picture.

I'am calm. I'am just a little nervous about starting a new job in general. Being around new people and what not. Hoping I will provide the best care for the patients. It's not really about the badges, I'am not super worried about that, I was just wondering was it normal to not be in the system.

The orientation is only an hour long so I wasn't sure what type of information they were going to give during that time. I was just wondering if the process was considered normal bc this is my first time working for a major hospital and I didn't want anything to interfere with my start date. And yeah my nerves are getting to me a little bit. I would assume that is normal since I'am human. But I do see what you are saying. Thank you :)

Evening all. I wrote an article last month about me getting hired into the hospital and what not. Well the hiring process has been long but it's almost over. My orientation is next Monday on the 8th. I did my W2 forms, showed my diploma, ssi card, Id and all that good stuff. :) but here is the thing, I spoke to human resources and they told me I'am still not in their " system" and In order for me to get my badge, I need to be registered into the system. They told me everything else went good as far as my background check, ursine test, and ect. And I still need to attend my orientation next Monday. So the HR rep told me to call back Friday to check to see if I'am in the system by than. Now I know HR are very busy little bees so I'am rushing the process. But my question is, Is it normal to not be in the system yet? Has anyone received their badge after their orientation? Or could It just simply mean they are backed up at the moment? At first I thought something was wrong on my end but I was told everything is fine. And if my background check was bad they would have told me a long time ago since that was the first thing I submitted. All answers are welcomed. I'am freaking out but I'am excited to start my new position.

Hi everyone. I made a post last week sometime about an interview I had with the hospital for the patient registrar position. I wrote about being nervous and applying for other positions while I was waiting for a call back. Well this morning I got offered the position fulltime with benefits and good pay. I'm super excited! I just sent in my paperwork to do my background check V.I.A email and I'am waiting for everything to clear so I can finish everything else. My background check is scheduled for next week and my start date is the 8th of August! I'm super happy and I just would like to thank everyone on here that gave me some advice about how to approach a job and the do's/don't's. Thank you! And goodluck to everyone!

Thank you so much for this comment lol. I have always been told it was a good idea to keep your options open just in case the job you want doesn't fall through. I felt like my interview went great but I also had to keep in mind that I'am in competition w/ other people that have applied and interviewed for the same position. I just wanted to keep my options open. Iam basically waiting for a phone call that might not even happen. So I figured, " what the hell." You might as well apply while you can just so they can see that you are interested. I called kind of early in my interview just to let them know I'am very interested. So I'am hoping that helped along w/ my thank you letter. I'am just hoping for the best. Tomorrow will make it a week since my interview. I'am just waiting for a phone call but I'am still applying just in case I don't get the job. Thank you for understanding! I thought maybe it was a mistake to apply for something else. í ½í¸«

I hope they don't think that. Lol I only applied because I really just wanted to keep my options open. Wasn't sure if they were going to go in a different direction. But it was for the same position. So I'am hoping for the best. It's honestly just a waiting game right now

I just have one more quick question to ask. Did the hospital contact your job/references before they made you an offer? The assited living I currently work for hired me first and the day I went to go to my fingerprints, they only called (2) out of the 4 references I listed. I was working for a laundromat company at the time and they did call my boss. But he didn't answer the phone. So they called someone else. I was just curious to know if things run a little differently when you work for an hospital. Thanks in advance for answering! 😊

Thank you for that advice! Will do!! Lol they told me they don't ever get " thank you " notes. Lol I was like " oh really." But you are right. Lol I don't want them to think I'am a wacko. Lol do you think it is okay for me to still keep my options open and apply for any Opening within the hospital?

I spoke to them in person and I typed up a thank note and signed it the day I found out I was being interviewed. My recruiter told me she is always busy and she doesn't really have time to answer the phone and she didn't give me her email address but I gave her mine. And I just expressed how thankful I was for an opportunity to speak w/ both of the ladies, my goals for working, my skills, and determination. I actually thought about sending them one before I typed mine up but once she said she is never really in her office I figured I would just slip her one. Lol, she told me that she was impressed on how prepared I came and she was happy I had brought my diploma bc most of her candidates get held up bc they don't either have a diploma or they have failed their drug and background test. So I'am I honestly was jus a little excited bc she was speaking to me as if I was going to get the position. I just was nervous about being a little " over ambitious." I just really want this position and I know I would be good at it.. I have been trying to get in the hsopital for years and it felt like all of my education and work ethics was a total waste. This is my first real chance and I just don't wanna blow it. It's just a waiting game. I'm patiently waiting lol

Well the only reason I called was because the recruiter told me I could and she also said she likes someone who takes a little initative. So I honestly didn't think I was bothering them. And when I applied for the other two positions I wanted to keep my options open just in case this job didn't fall through. I wasn't sure how the whole hiring process went for hospitals bc I have never had a real interview for one. Just a few assisted livings but nothing major like this. And I must admit my excitement got the best of me. But I will take your advice, I don't want to scare them off since I honestly think they are considering me. A lot of ppl kept saying " contact your recruiter or they will forget about you." But I will let the process be... Thank you for your honest opinion.

hello all, I'am new to this thread so please bare with me. well on Monday I went to an interview for a hospital. the position was for patient registrar (emergency) The interview went great. I was interviewed by two women. I gave them both a copy of my resume, references, and a thank you letter. we spoke about the position, scrub colors, parking, and etc. I was told the hiring process could take a few weeks. well yesterday I checked the stat of my application and it says 'interview.' So I applied for another 2 more positions w/ the hospital just to keep my options open and I wanna make sure my name pops up and they realize I wanna work for them. Today one of the apps said " not selected" and the other one just says " applied" but my original app still says "interview." I feel like this position is mine. I even went as far as to call Wednesday and leave a voicemail thanking them for interviewing me and I told them I really wanted to work for the company, ( I hope that wasn't to much.) well my 3 references told me they haven't been contacted yet. So my question Is do HR do a background check first? Or do they need your permission for that? I really want this position. I just want to be able to provide and build a career within the hospital. any feedback? thanks all... :)
