  1. I just did a contract with them for the 1st time. 13wk contract in Bangor, Maine. It was a terrible facility, terrible housing, terrible recruiter, & TruStaff is a terrible company. They lie to you to get you on, & they jack you up. They take all your money. I was bringing home less than 35% of my check every week. My contract was changed 3 diff times. Don't fall for the crap any of the recruiters tell you. I worked w/ 2 diff recruiters there, as the 1st recruiter that really screwed me over left the agency days after I called her out on what she'd done wrong to me. I got another recruiter & she wasn't much better. FIND A DIFFERENT AGENCY PLEASE!
  2. Good advice NedRN!... Hey Rach85... Go to the travel conference (TravCon) in Vegas next year! They bring down a countless # of agencies that you can talk to. They also give great info on anything you can think of r/t travel nursing. Google TravCon Vegas... registration opens in April.
  3. I started traveling as an LPN this year. I have 6yrs experience & finding the right agency is definitely a work in continual process! I got lucky & started with a GREAT agency to start out traveling with (360 Healthcare Staffing). Check them out! They took care of my flight, rental car, & housing. This is why I felt it was a good company to start with. Diff agencies do things in diff ways, & either do or don't provide certain things. It's best to be FLEXIBLE & have more than 1 agency, to ensure job stability. I'm currently working with 3 agencies. Also go to TravCon 2017 in Vegas, because they give you soooo much FABULOUS info on travel nursing, & you'll meet so many nurses & agencies that can truely assist in your goal to start traveling!
  4. Thanks for that advice! I started travel nursing in August, & my life has done a total 180. I've been traveling places I never thought I would. I got hooked up with an AMAZING company for some community service type travel called ISL when I went to the Vegas TravCon (travelers conference) this Sept., & will be going to Belize to help out & learn. I feel like I'm finally back on the right path!
  5. Great idea. Thank you for your response :)
  6. It's more navigationally focused. In other words, getting the best route to where I'm heading, based off my personal/financial/career/educational needs. Who better to help than someone who's been there themselves. Also, it'd be great to network, & get nursing connections.
  7. I got my LPN Feb 2011, so it's been slightly over 5 yrs. I've seen several posts regarding continuing education, & just a feeling of being stagnant, & I feel that's EXACTLY where I am. I just recently moved back to Columbia, MO & am in need of a nurse mentor to help push me out of my comfort zone, & help get me back on the right track in continuing my education. I was in a bridge program back in 2013, but withdrew, as the program was new, & too unorganized, lacking what I need to learn to the best of my ability. Does anyone know of nurses (RNs) in the area that would be a good mentor, or even best place to go to find a good mentor in the area?
