a nurse's poem-I'm Sorry In Advance
Your poem touched me. It made me cry. I'am not a RN but remember as a nurseing asistant how I couldn't give proper care and felt like why am I here? This should be in the letters to the editor section of every newspaper in the country.

CNA's Humiliation
I have a similar story to tell. I knew a RN who was dateing a married doctor at the time and when he finally left her for another woman her reply was.....and to think he would leave me for a non-professtional! She had the nerve to say such a thing in front of the nurse's aids. What utter gall!!!!

If an MD shoved you...
I saw a doctor hit a nurse in the back with a chart one time. The whole thing was covered up by the hospital. More afraid of something hurting their public image than repremanting the doctor.

nurseing,hospitals,and the media
I can not understand why the networks,60 minutes,or dateline dont't talk about the nurseing shortage more. They seem to be clueless as to what is really happening. I heard on one local newscast that the reporter thought nurse's assistants just passed water or made beds. How ignorant can one be? It's the tecknical work of the RN's that they are now being made to do. That is what is happening and that is real news.

CNA's Humiliation
Nurses's aids, nurseing assistants,or CNA's do direct patient care for patients. In general they get very little respect from professtional staff and have to put up with condescending attitdes. I found that patients appreciated what I did much more so than anybody else. They don't care what kind of degree you have, only that You treat them with kindness and concern. Not all RN's or LPN's act like I have stated but they are few and far between.

unlicensed personal in hospitals
Iam not a registered nurse but I worked as an nursing assistnt in a hospital for 21 years and saw all the changes that are taking place. It is scary how nursing assistants are takiing on the role of RN's by drawing blood, adminstering tube feeding, putting catheters in patients and God knows what else. Hospitals are trying to fool the public by giving them medical sounding names like Multi-skilled partner or patient care tech. It's a total sham! I think nurses aids have a role in the hospital but not to replace the RN. The loads are horrible! 12-17 patients to give personal care to . Four patients to feed and given only 20 minutes ot do it in. I felt like I was on an assembly line at a factory.
