  1. Ah that age old saying. I am always scratching my head when nurses, NPs or doctors say that. Do you not know that a lot of our pharmaceuticals are derived from plant constituents? Do you not know that the 2016 noble peace prize went to two scientists who used a plant called "sweet Annie" (artmesia annua) that is now used for a anti malaria drug because that's what the tribal people have used for centuries. Have you not read about the scientist in 2017 who found a plant that might fight antibiotic resistance. Don't you think as practioners we have to be open to everything in order to give good patient care. There a accredited colleges that offer a bachelors in herbal studies and plant chemistry. If you can't realize in 2017 how important plants are to human health than you might want to do some basic research.
  2. There are some really great masters programs university of Maryland used to be known as tai Sophia has lots of great options for holistic care. Also university of Massachusetts is known for their innovative holistic nursing and master programs. There are also other schools and programs that aren't accredited but just as good if not better, depending on what complimentary medicine your interested in. VCIH which is the Vermont center for integrative health is amazing. It's a three year program third year is working in a clinic. They teach about botanical medicine "traditional medicine" I'd say depending on where you live taking programs or classes like that are beneficial to integrate into your practice If your thinking about opening up your own clinic. Bastyr is another great school and accredited but very expensive. I went to the northeast school of botanical medicine, before starting nursing school and intend on becoming a CNM and open up a holistic women's wellness center. As for the guy who said "I'm not into oils or herbs. I figure if that worked there would've never been drug companies" i want you to think about that statement. So many major pharmaceuticals are derived from a play literally hundreds. Don't forget where those medicines came from. There is amazing science behind plant medicine. Drugs and Medicine Made from Plants we can't be narrow minded practioners, it only hurts our patients.
