Okay my dear nursing friends, let me have it. I just started a new job at a level 1 trama center. I'm working in behavior health for the first time and I've been a RN for 23 years. That's a story within itself, however we had a meeting this morning at 0930, I was about to take my break and they told me i had to go, we were all going through the day. The night before i worked which is no big deal but I woke up at 0100 and could not get back to sleep so I decided to get some things done and made coffee. I was moving along all morning, working happy and motivated. I then went to the meeting and i could not keep my eyes open, they were rolling the back of my head. Long story short, I was sent home and i think im going to be terminated. Please forgive my grammar, i can't type well on a smartphone

Might be held accountable for something I did not do
This is my real question...I have been a RN for 15 years...I have never been disciplined in my working career (meaning I have never been written up) in fact get wonder reviews from my patients and have great letters of recommendation from all my past employers. My problem is this: I recently relocated and I have a fairly new job...I'm a male nurse and one of our Nursing Assistants is in nursing school...his mother has been worked there for 27 years and he is a spoiled brat. A lot of the workers kiss his butt because his mom is in a high position, but the issue is this...he is lazy and he thinks he knows everything...the other day he was socializing and I left him and continued with my work...he contacted my boss who is friends with his mother and told her I had been missing for 3 hours...today I may be held accountable for something I did not do and I want to tell my boss the truth about this kid but I am concerned about my new relationship with my boss...I am only 3 months into this job and I don't want to cause bad blood within the work place...normally I would speak up in a flash but once again I am new and just trying to do my job without conflict.

Sorry but it was a bad joke...I have had a terrible problem creating my account and I was using the words of one of the clinical students...I was a nursing assistant for 5 years before I received my BSN and only typed this to see if anyone would reply...I love reading all subjects on all nurses.com and I finally have an account...sorry for the bad joke.

I have just graduated from nursing school and I was told that I will have to clean patients...I don't mind this but my friend said I will have to clean BM and urine...I am above this and I thought that's what nursing assistants were for...it was their choice to become a nursing assistant and if they don't have the brains to be a RN then they should do this...am I right to think this?
