Are there any good podcasts for aspiring nurses that you listen to? I'll be beginning the program next year and looking for material to listen to (if there is anything good) while I jog/walk.

I've been looking at my options for nursing programs, and the least expensive route is going to be the ADN at the community college. I literally have every course needed for the program already taken except for Pharmacology and the clinical courses. If I go this route, the program does not begin until Fall of 2017. What should I learn/study to over the course of the next year in order to make the program go as smoothly as possible, feel confident and knowledgable, and lessen the stress of the actual program? P.S. I doubt the program is going to be that difficult anyways since my course load credits will only be 9, 10, 10, 9 ?

Choosing a nursing program has been the most difficult decision I believe I've ever had to make. I am 26 years old turning 27 in 2 months. I have no major responsibilities or a family of my own. I can obtain the funding needed to do either of the 3 programs. I believe my single biggest struggle is that my parents being 65+ are relatively healthy, but it is a major concern to me that "what if" something happened to them while I was away for school? Am I irrational in thinking? Will I feel homesick? But, the sacrifice of staying here for school is Time&Cost. Do I want to spend the extra 12-24 months in school? Up to 40k in debt? Missing out on income and experience accumulated from completing my degree more quickly? I have 3 options and I'm having a terrible time deciding which to do. I'm taking time, cost(debt), and distance from 'home' as main considerations. 1. Comm College ADN route + Online RN-BSN (Tennessee) Time: 1yr waiting for program, 2yr program, 12-18mo BSN (4 years) Cost: $5000 ADN + $15k BSN = $20k Distance: 1h30m ***Summers off 2. Private Univ BSN (Tennessee) Time: Begins in spring 2017 and lasts 2.5 years Cost: $40,000 Distance: 1h15m ***Summers off 3. Private Univ (Florida) Time: 18 month ABSN Cost: $18,000 Distance: 13 hours ***Year round 11 weeks on 2 weeks off. ***Round-trip plane ticket $120 I feel like the FL option is the one that makes the MOST sense overall. But all things considered, It is a difficult decision.

This has been absolutely the best website for nursing information, thanks to all of you for contributing. I have been looking at BSN as a second degree entrance option. I currently hold a B.S. In Management. The issue is that I'm terrified to take on an upfront amount of debt and move in order to begin the BSN program. It is very rigorous and intensive. But I would prefer the 'more options' route that the BSN 'seems' to offer over an ADN. Question: Would holding a MBA + ADN be as/less/more beneficial/efficient in opening options and climbing up the latter than holding a BSN?

Hey, I've been visiting this site for a long time reading and finally decided to register. I am strongly considering transitioning into a nursing career. I want to get started right away, and that being said -- LPN is my only option. RN programs nearby will not accept registration and begin until over a year from now, in the fall of 2017. I would hope to be able to complete my LPN and pursue my ADN as I continue to work and gain experience as an LPN. Is it a good idea to go ahead and begin the LPN program or should I wait? I am looking into online LPN-ADN programs. Do the LPN clinical requirements meet those of the ADN/are there additional clinical for bridging? Do you know of/recommend any bridge programs? There are very limited options in this area, and it would not be the most responsible decision for me to have to move in order to take campus courses in an RN program.
