  1. Hello! I'm a new graduate RN from NYC looking for a job in NY or central/north jersey and I just passed my NCLEX mid August. I have 2 years experience working 1-1 with a boy with severe cerebral palsy and 3 summers as an extern for NewYork Presbyterian. (I'm still waiting for an HR rep at my hospital that I know is going to find me a job. It's just that the commute is KILLER and I'm hoping for a different hospital) I am not getting any calls back on the tons of applications I've sent out. I'm not saying my experience makes me the best new grad out there, but I was hoping it would at least get me an interview or a phone interview. I know so many students I graduated with working for the best hospitals that didn't do much to have a good resume. I'm wondering what I could be doing to better my chances. I have a few questions if anyone can give me some advice and answer these specifically. 1. Is it okay to ignore "Relevant Experience 1-2 years of RN experience in Med Surg/ *insert speciality unit* and apply anyway? 2. Thoughts on messaging recruiters on LinkedIn? 3. How long does it take to get a NJ license once you have your NY license? 4. Are cover letters absolutely necessary, how personal to the hospital and specific position should they be? 5. ANY advice for a new grad nurse. I'm looking to work at Morristown, RWJ, Children's Specialized, NYP lower manhattan, Staten Island University, Hackensack, or NYU. Am I missing any great ones? Thank you anyone and everyone that can help.
  2. These are temporary positions I applied for, as in for my three month summer break and possibly my two month winter break. I would travel to central nj as needed, my school is only an hour and a half away.
  3. Some of the positions they've posted are temporary or per diem and I'm not too far away when I'm at school so I'm trying anyway because I would love the opportunity. Thank you for your help
  4. Hello everyone, I'm currently a nursing student halfway through my Bachelor's Program at UDel. I'm looking into externships and jobs as CCTs, and the hospital I would absolutely love to work at is Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick or Somerset. I have clinical hands on experience and I'm certified based on their criteria listed on the application page. I've applied for about 10 positions in the last 6 months and have not been selected to move forward for any of them. I would do anything to work there and I haven't been given a chance. Is there anyone that knows if there are specific criteria I may be missing, who I should contact, or if there's anything I should do to go above and beyond? Thanks in advance.
