FAU FNP 2020
Hi everyone. I called the advisor for the FNP program and he said they’re still working on the emails. That all decisions should be out by the end of this week.

FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN
Do you mind posting the amazon links to the books and the codes? Cause I thought the book at FIU included two codes and the physical book. But I'm checking on amazon and there's a bunch of codes. One for clinical component, elsevier, adaptive quizzing. it's all too confusing.

The sherpath code. Did you find that on evolve? Is that just the code that's $200 cause i read it includes the ebook as well. I was going to buy it but I'm not sure if that includes everything like the package deal from Barnes and nobles. Does anyone know?

I bought mine on Amazon. Way cheaper. Payed like $75 for assessments brand new with access code. And like $95 for patho and code included. Idk about sherpath. I found it online on the actual site. It was $200 but idk if that's the one we need. I think I'm going to buy it at the bookstore.

FIU Fall 2016 Generic BSN
Hi everyone. Schedule for clinicals are out. I was placed in Memorial West for Thursday sec 1. Unfortunately I work and they told me I can't switch unless someone was willing to switch with me. I really need to be put into sec 2 because I get out from work Monday at 7am which conflicts with another class. Is anyone willing to switch with me pretty please that was put into sec. 2?

For those of you that need the name for the math book, it's called "Dimensional Analysis for Meds" By Anna M. Curren (At least that's what I've been reading so far...last year's class used the same book.)

I'm not sure. You should ask the company. But it depends where you do it. It's basically the same thing though. The place I did it at only charged me $50 but it was an initial BLS course. It was very quick. I was in and out in less than 40 minutes.

You should ask Mr.Yap about that, but if your certification says American Heart Association at the top right hand corner, you should be ok. If it doesn't you may have to re certify again (I had mine from another association and had to recertify with AHA)

Make sure it's BLS certification. It must say BLS not cpr. I got mine done in Miami shores for $50.00 got my certification that same day. Found them on thumbtack. The name of the company is Onelife source CPR

I received a similar response. He told me that I might have time to upload the documents before Aug. 22. So I'm assuming it's ok to submit it after July 15th...

How to manage life on night shift?
Although I'm not yet a nurse, I work 12 hour shifts three times a week and although my commute is fairly short, it was a bit challenging the first few days. I was able to get used to my schedule within two to three weeks. You just need to adjust your schedule accordingly, manage your time correctly, and trick your head into the mentality of pretending (so to speak) that you're not pulling a night shift. I work 7:00pm to 7:00am so the day before my night shift, I sleep throughout the night until 1:00pm. Then I wake up to eat lunch (usually I stay up until 3pm) and then I go back to sleep until 5:30pm. It's really important you give your body the rest it deserves. During your night shift, keep yourself busy and don't start counting down the hours (the night feels longer if you do that). Also, drink a lot of water. On your drive back home, roll down the windows, put loud music on, and stop for some coffee if you get a chance. As for having a social life, well I only have one on my days off. You might also want to purchase some ear plugs and eye mask if you live in a noisy neighborhood. The earplugs didn't work for me, but the eye mask came in handy during those sunny mornings.

There's a declination form but I suggest you take the vaccine. They won't be looking for Flu shot until after 8/1 because most places won't have it until then. I had mine at FIU last week but I have to take it again after 8/1 because the new flu shot with the new strand of virus will come out (theres a new shot every year). Just wait until then. Don't worry about the deadline for the flu shot. I got my information from the email our coordinator gave us in case of any questions regarding complio.

For the Flu shot, TDap and mumps, just show the paperwork saying you had the shot for measles, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella you need to get titers done to show proof of immunity. Not just proof you received the shot. For PPD, you just show proof that it's negative.
