Samuel Merritt Spring 2017 ABSN
re: verification for what it's worth, I applied to a different Sam Merritt program this summer (elmsn), submitting my nursingCAS on the deadline day. 5 days later, I received a Sam Merritt email saying they received my nursingcas, and to NOT contact them since they'll be busy, strange as that sounds. Another 10 days later, nursingCAS emails me that i'm verified. In a half panic, I email nursingcas asking if they can confirm that SMU received a verified app, they confirmed they sent SMU the application again after it was verified. The wordings of all those emails were weird, since nursingcas didn't have to send anything, and SMU can see the app online anytime. All's well that ends well.

Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP Spring 2017 Cohort
Now that the interview stress is over for this cycle, can anyone familiar with the Sacramento area point me in the right direction to search for a temp job as a CNA/ER Tech/ EMT/ Clinical Tech, etc? I have current CNA & EMT cards. A little background: My grad program doesn't start until August, and I'm exploring the possibility of relocating to Sacramento after finishing grad school in 2-3 yrs, so I might as well find a Temp job there now since I have the time. A brief search of sacramento shows so many hospital systems: UCDavisMed Center, MercyGeneralHosp/Dignity/Catholic, Sutter, Kaiser. And yet, looking at their online job postings now, I can't find any openings for CNA/PCA/ERtech/ClinicalTech, etc. Any other job titles I should be on the lookout for? Thanks. In other words, and to be on topic, what job titles in Sacramento could be listed in our NursingCAS application's Pacientcare Experience section? :)

Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP Spring 2017 Cohort
on TV now, CBS BigBrother18 just announced the winner, and we're in the appropriate forum. SPOILER ALERT: . . . . . The RN won the BB18 season! Why was she in there to begin with? Anyways, @Fiona, we were the first group, had 10. From previous forums, it seems later groups might have more people as they aim to interview at least double the available seats to fill waitlists. Nothing that hasn't been said before, it was a very friendly atmosphere, almost forgot I was being interviewed! Maybe I did forget, oh well, breathe and good luck!

Spring 2017 Samuel Merritt ABSN
I applied for the elmsn fnp too, been a month since the automated email saying they received everything and to please don't call since it will slow things down. May have another month to wait for info. If this elmsn application doesn't work out, will have to apply for the summer absn, will need to ask for recommendation letters again for a completely new nursingcas. I'm not familiar with bay area, looking at the summer absn sites, there are 2 san mateo sites: April San Mateo clinicals are in SF Bay Area; June San Mateo clinicals are in South Bay/Peninsula. What's the difference between these 2? I googled, and it shows that SF is synonymous with Peninsula, but apparently not. Googled comments also say locals disagree on what is south bay. Anyone care to comment? Thanks.

Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland
HI y'all, getting ready to apply, but I see something new on the elmsn prerequisites page. On top of the page it says they only need either TEAS "or" HESI. But at the bottom fine print, it says Spring 17 start date will need to have HESI at time of application. Does this mean they now need both Teas "And" Hesi?. I only have teas, didn't see the hesi requirement last year, anyone taken both? Need to schedule it now.
