Psychiatric nursing interview
I did not get the job and did not mention that I was once a patient there. I did say that my niece was (which is true). Anyway, one of the panel of 5 was very familiar and very rude during the interview. She was actually looking at her phone during the interview and when the guy who was leading the interview asked her if she had any questions she said, "what? Sorry I wasn't paying attention." Anyway, I think she remembered me. Within 1 hour of leaving there I got a denial form letter they send by email with no explanation of course. Makes me sad because I think I would be a great psych nurse.

Ageism?
I think I'm not being hired as an RN at the hospital I already work at because of ageism. I'm 52 and just passed my state boards 2 months ago after graduating with honors from a very competitive RN program. I have been working for the same hospital corporation for 5 years as a unit secretary, I have never been written up for anything. I have had great evaluations every year and I have experience with the hospital charting system, also everyone in my department seems to be happy with me and have given me references. I have have applied for 4 hospitals in my area owned by this corporation. I have had 2 interviews for the new graduate program at 2 hospitals (one of which I currently work at) and have been turned down for both. I had applied for other positions as an RN but the recruiter automatically files denies my application as "not under consideration" so the hiring manager never sees it. I talked to the director of the department i currently work in (radiology) and she had me talk to the CNO where I work who interviewed me again and set me up with a another interview that wasn't the new grad program. I interviewed for that and was not hired for that either. I am going to have to apply at other non affiliated hospitals, but if I don't stay with this corporation for 2 years I will have to pay back the tuition reimbursement the hospital gave me to go to school for my RN. I think its ridiculous i should have to stay a secretary there because they wont hire me as a nurse. The reason I think the problem is ageism is because they hired some of my much younger classmates who have had no medical background at all. I also know of at least 4 of us who are over 40 were turned down from the same program. I've never had a problem with interviews before.

Psychiatric nursing interview
Im a new graduate and i'm going to apply for a new graduate training program for psych nursing at a local hospital. I have been to an inpatient psychiatric hospital for just a couple of days during clinical, but i have also been an inpatient there too about 2 years ago(for depression) and it was a good experience from my patient point of view. My question is whether or not to bring that up in the interview. I think it could work either way; i can identify with the patients on a personal level but that may also make them think i'm unstable.

PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls
I don't even see any fingerprinting option on the website. I'm also waiting for the drug test registration form. Website said I should have received an email with instructions within 24 hours. It's been over 48 hrs. I checked my spam folder and it isn't there either. This is kind of confusing. Has anyone else got theirs?

PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls
I was told east/west also, with no guarantee which one. Since when has dade city had an RN program? She did tell me she'd make a note letting them know I prefer west. Someone's post said that they go by zip code. But if that's true, why do they let people apply to more than one campus?

PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls
Yes. Maybe just the generic RN applicants got called. The LPN selection may be on a different day.

PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls
I just got a call and was accepted! I was preparing myself for the worst. I accepted the seat, but she said there's no guarantee I will get west campus, it may be dade city so she said to be prepared for that.

PHSC Nursing Hopefuls - Fall 2016
I wish they didn't wait until mid to end of July to let us know. Doesn't school start the end of August? If I'm accepted I will have to apply for financial aid, get my school and work schedule figured out etc... All in 4 to 6 weeks.

PHSC Fall 2016 Hopefuls
Someone was doing the composite score but didn't have my residency info. I have a 78.8 teas and 4.0 prereq. I am going to be considered a pasco resident. Can someone please help me figure my score?

PHSC Nursing Hopefuls - Fall 2016
I've applied for the RN program at npr campus. My prerequsite gpa is 4.0, my teas score is 78.8. I'm not sure if I'm considered a resident for the program purposes. I've had my Florida license for 8 months and still have to pay tuition as a non resident because it hasn't been a year yet.
