I applied on my own,. First I submitted my application to get registration as a Registered General Nurse. Then the Nursing Board deemed it necessary that I required a period of Adaptation. This was difficult to arrange on my own, however I am a highly qualified Nurse so it was easy to get interviews. A Dublin ospital hired me and arranged my 6 week Adaptation. I was paid the student rate. Once I was signed off as completing the Adaptation, I was then granted my PIN and able to practice as a RGN. Note: I also applied for my working Visa on my I own through the Irish Embassy.

Hello I am not sure if this thread is still active. It can be quite frustrating to get registration if NMBI decides you need a Period of Adaptation and trying to find a hospital that will take you on is quite challenging. If you have a nursing skill that is in high demand then write to the nursing department and seek their help in facilitating a period of adaptation.

Hello You will first have to obtain registration here in Ireland to practice as a Registered Nurse through the Irish Nursing Board NMBI - Overseas nurses & midwives who want to practise in Ireland: NMBI Then you will require a working visa, the Irish Embassy will have info whether your job category is in high demand and may grant you your work permit based on the country's nursing shortage. I think the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has the best employment opportunities in your field. They currently have 2 vacancies for Clinical Nurse Researchers in Dublin and Cork.
