Hi:up: This is my first year that I will be doing vision, hearing and spinal screenings. Can I get any tips or suggestions on how to get started. When conducting your screenings, do any of you send out a letter/notice, notifying the parent that you will be screening for vision and hearing. And if you do can you ii get ideas on a template that I could send home. The previous nurse did not leave any tips or helped at all.

so do you recommend to check 7th grade first and then the rest or only 7th grade. my school only has prek - 8th grade. do you personally go to their files and look at the shot record or through the system?

new nurse here and i was wondering how you all school nurses check your returning students immunization records? do you go file by file and look to see what they are missing or do you use a system where you look up what they need? im afraid that i might miss something or not be in compliance:nailbiting::nailbiting:

It does get better trust me. I was in the same situation as you are today. I felt like quitting and giving up, no one informs me of anything because i have to find out on my own. I started with no mentor or anyone knowing my role. It will take time to adjust trust me but being on here will help you a lot and try looking for other nurse websites and local nurses. message me and i will try to help you as much as i can.

For the returning students; how do you go about checking their immunizations? I am done with all the new immunizations that have came in. im just curious to know how you go back and check all the returning students to see if they are compliant

what does it mean when it states "Hep A" 2 dose series???

I have a prek record, It states "Hep A 2 dose series". does that mean they got the 2 doses they needed? or did they only get 1?

The most confusing part is that some have 2 mmr and 2 varicella, but others have 1 mmr and 1 varicella. But it depends to what grade they are going to right????

New School Nurse here. So I'm receiving all the new kids immunization cards and it's so overwhelming, I have the immunization schedule and all but it still seems so hard. What if I miss something and the child is not complient with all vaccines. Any help on who to contact or who can help me get everything in order and know what vaccines each child should have. Help!!!! I'm in texas

So as I must imagine that every school nurse is on a teachers pay scale and getting summers paid....when is a good time to put in a 2 weeks notice.... Would you put it in before current school year is over, during the summer or when this coming school year starts????

Do you send it back with the child or is it better if I discard.....and how do you discard it properly

I have a diabetic kid, using novolog. Do you discard after 30 days or would you contact parent and ask??? It will be 28 days since it was opened on Friday. ...Help! !!!
