  1. I talked to her a little over a week ago on the phone and there was a form she wanted me to submit that she needed to e-mail to me. She still hadn't e-mailed it to me by around tue/wed this week so I e-mailed her to remind her to send to me. Still no reply. I am single in the fact that I am not married. My fiance is 100% on board and ready to relocate wherever I am stationed so I am very lucky. Without his support there is no way I could do this and that is part of the reason I put last year's application on hold was to give me a little time to adjust to motherhood and make sure he felt the same. Even if I wasn't that competitive, my packet is almost done provided I get to my weight which I am very motivated. I would at least want to be considered. I don't know if I have to work exclusively with her in that recruiting office or a different recruiter. She told me that the Army is only excepting nurses once a year now and that November is that time so I would like to make sure that everything is all ready for that.
  2. I do have my CEN. My recruiter had told me last year that my physical was good for 2 years so I assumed that letters of recommendation were too. I think that she's just REALLY busy. I can't even leave a message on her office phone b/c the mailbox is full. However, I would like a shot at this even if it's gotten more selective. This has been my dream since I was in nursing school but I was more timid then. I do have about 30 lbs of pregnancy weight to lose to meet weight. She told me that I had to meet that by the end of September. I'm wondering if she thinks there's no way for me to meet that goal, but I've already made some good progress and I KNOW I can make it.
  3. Hey... I had my application all ready for boards last year when "surprise" I found out I was pregnant. I decided to put application on hold and wait til baby. Now I am proud mommy to my daughter, but still am wanting to join army nurse corps. Apparently things have changed.... last year my army health care recruiter was very prompt in replying to my e-mails and questions and seemed very excited for my to apply. This year it is so hard to get ahold of her and she doesn't seem that interested in submitting my packet. I'm kinda discouraged. I've been an ER nurse for 3 years now and would love to serve my country, but I feel like I'm getting the cold shoulder. She did mention that there are ALOT more applicants now and that there was competition even with my experience, but I still want to be considered. I feel like she's giving up on me...
  4. I was just wondering what everyone else's experiences have been with commissioning as an officer. Most specifically I wanted to ask everyone how long it took from the initial contact with your recruiter to attending OBLC.
  5. Hi, I'm new to this thread and have been reading posts for a couple of weeks now. I have just sent in my application, finished my physical and am just waiting to hear back from the approval board. I'm super excited about army nursing as I am 24 y/o and single w/o kids and would love to take care of our soldiers. I do have a couple of questions though. Do all nurses go in as 2nd LT the same as new grads? I have two years of ER experience and have my CEN. My recruiter gave me a chart with ranks and job description/roles and my current job fits that of a 1st LT. Also, when they say "up to _____" in regards to a bonus, do people usually get the entire bonus? I am curious because I unfortunately bought my house 2 years ago and will end up owing money if I sell and wanted to use the bonus to help with my loss. I never thought that houses could depreciate so much in so little time and real estate commission is gonna take a chunk as well! Oh well!
