  1. I know there have been a lot of questions like mine already, so thank you for reading and responding. I graduated from college 2 years ago. I was a transfer student and had a 3.4 in JC. 1 year after transferring to university, health problems started. It was a rough time for me and I isolated myself from friends and family. Doctors didn't know what was wrong with me. I knew there was an option to take time off school, but I decided to push through and finish college. I ended school with a couple of Ds and Cs in major science classes and a GPA of 2.9. After graduating, I worked at health related community agencies, but my career choice looks limited without further training or a master degree. I really want to be a nurse and give back to patients the care I received from nurse when I was sick, but I don't see how with such a low GPA and ugly transcript, especially in a super competitive area like the Bay Area. Am I going to stuck in low paying jobs in the health field? If anyone has any advice on how I can get into a BSN program, I would greatly appreciate it.
  2. Hi Everyone, I graduated in 2014 with a BS in Biological Science and BA in Chinese and have 1 year of social work experience. I finally am ready to go back to school for a degree in nursing, but found out my GPA is too low, at 2.9 average. My biological science gpa is really low, my chinese gpa is around A/B+ range. I had a 3.4 GPA at community college before I transferred to a 4 year university. For US schools, I will have to take post bacc classes to boost my grades, but even then, I won't be as competitive as others with high gpa. With nursing school being so competitive in California, I think it might be easier for me to get into nursing school somewhere else and then come back to California to work. I'm really interested in Canada and learning how it does things differently from us. Is it possible to get in with a 2.9? What if I take post bacc classes to boost my gpa? I have come across a couple of threads with similar topics but I didn't find the answer there. I also looked at a couple of Canadian Universities. There requirements didn't seem that tough, but I read on the internet that it's still competitive. Can Canadian nurses/students or US nurses/students who have taken this route please weigh in? And how hard was it to find work in the US with a Canadian nursing degree?
