  1. Did someone make a pre-specialty facebook group?? I only see an unofficial admitted students page for both pre-specialty and direct entry... it would be helpful to have pre-specialty page since we are all going to be together for year 1!
  2. So we won't find out until after the deposit deadline has already passed? That doesn't make much sense to me...
  3. I thought there were still a couple of full scholarships that are yet to be announced, separate from what was in the acceptance letter? Anyone who went to the Open House know when they will be announced?
  4. Anyone know when the full scholarships will be communicated? Or have they been decided already?
  5. Accepted pre-specialty! Congrats everyone! Would anyone mind sharing the scholarship amount given in their letter? Mine was $7,500. That's just for year 1 I guess?
  6. Wait, you heard back from Vanderbilt already? When? Are you prespecialty?
  7. I see it too! Wish they would send a real decision before making us on edge with this kind of stuff!
  8. Last year, applicants got their decisions on February 3 so I'm hoping it will be the first week of February again and their answers about late Feb/early March are just their contingency plan. They said the same thing last year as well.
  9. Since all full-time students get a partial scholarship, does anyone know how much $$ the partial scholarships typically are per year? Thanks!
  10. For accepted students, I had a change and my OPUS shows my financial aid now. Not as much as I expected... has anyone else's come up?
  11. Can anyone who interviewed yesterday share how it went? Questions asked, and how the program was overall? Thanks!
  12. Only midwifery and psych/mental health specialities do interviews. The other specialities will likely not hear anything substantial until admissions decisions are released in Feb/March.
  13. It depends which specialty you applied for. This is the schedule they previously sent out. Did you ever get a detailed agenda from them or a specific time slot? Friday, December 9, 2016: Adult and Gerontology Acute Care NP, Adult and Gerontology Primary Care NP, Nurse Anesthesia, Pediatric Acute Care NP (Chronic, Critical Care and Oncology Concentrations), Neonatal NP, and Nursing and Healthcare Administration Programs Monday, December 12, 2016: Hillman BSN-Phd program, Psychiatric Mental Health NP and Pediatric Primary Care NP Programs Tuesday, December 13, 2016: Nurse Midwifery and Women's Health NP Programs
  14. To people who registered for in-person interviews, have you all received a detailed agenda and/or interview time slot? I still haven't gotten anything but I registered for an interview on Dec 13 (Women's Health BSN+MSN).
  15. I received an interview offer for the BSN+MSN. Good luck everyone with their interviews! My checklist still shows "materials needed" and doesn't show my transcripts or GREs have been received. Anyone else have the same?
  16. Thanks for clarifying! Do you think there is any disadvantage to not getting the BSN degree? Any implications for future scope of practice or career prospects? Or no difference?
  17. Yes, it's a bit confusing because students doing only the ABSN start in the fall. So when you look at the admitted students websites it talks a lot about the Fall orientation and such but the ABSN+MSN definitely starts in the summer, I believe in May but I haven't seen the official date.
  18. For people asking about financial aid - I just came across this on the Emory website, I think they must've refreshed these pages pretty recently because I hadn't noticed this before. They have a ton of info up about timelines and process for applying for financial aid, and it lists this timeline for the ABSN/MSN program. I'd be surprised if they really stick to it since they seem to be a bit behind with the admissions decisions, but I would be very glad to hear back about merit scholarships on Dec 1! Accelerated MSN Financial Aid 2
  19. Thanks for the offer wannabemsf! I'd love to hear about the internal scholarships for pre-specialty non-nurses ie. how many full tuition scholarships and their criteria, are there other high amount (75% or 50%) scholarships as well, etc.
  20. I've heard that before too, but I think the idea was that if you have a *major* weakness like you've been convicted of a crime, expelled from college, flunked your freshman year, etc then you should use part of the open-ended essay as an opportunity to defend some of that. For most other people, the focus should be on goals, intentions, what draws you to nursing. Slightly low GREs is not something they want to hear about there.
  21. It's just a typical open-ended letter. There's plenty of resources online though about how to write and format a grad school recommendation letter.
  22. When I attended the open house last year, I believe they said that only psych/mental health and nurse midwifery get interviews. Perhaps other specialities here and there, but mostly just those two relied on them.
  23. Congrats on acceptances! Did you need to create an "OPUS" account to view your decision, or was it emailed to you? The FAQ page says something about viewing your admissions decision through your OPUS account.
  24. Someone else posted it on here last month - "In case anyone is curious- they want it 1 1/2 pages, single spaced. I spoke with them about it yesterday"
  25. On the next section of the application it asks you what degree you are entering with, so you would put "Non-nursing Bachelor's"
