Nursing School?
Hello there! I'm so confused about the process of becoming a nurse and don't want to weast time and money. Please help me figure out what is the best course of action. I live near Houston TX, some of the most affordable and good schools are near me, the closest one is Lone Star. My GPA is around 3.0 at this time. I need to take a test called TSI due to never passing the entrance college level math. I've been studying for this test and will take it late March. I'm hopeful I will pass and start be able to start taking more classes. In order to be able to apply for the nursing program LS only requires like 3 classes. Which I have taken 1 and will get the other two completed by the summer. However, I wouldn't be able to apply to the nursing program until 2018. And that is a long way for me, since I have to take care of my daughter. Can any of you that live near the Houston area, share what other programs are available and that doesn't take more than 3 years? I have research and left voicemail to different schools but would love to hear it from the source. Thank you!

I'm afraid that I will never become a nurse and be stuck with 11k in loans
I dont think your Mom should co sign anything at all. You needed to plan first before getting into any debt. I'm so sorry but getting into debt is not the way to do things. Have you applied for all scholarships available? Grants? Or even gofundme. It will be better if you can get all of your expenses into a very well and plan out budget, get a part time job and save as much as possible. I know is possible.. I was out of my house by 18 years old, paying for my bills and going to school. Wish you the best of luck. Co singing is a huge responsibility.

Anyone planning to start a family before Nursing School or has?
Thank you and I'm so sorry you have to go thru that. Well, I didn't know you had that problem with you uterus. What are the chances it might come back? Ow, I completely understand your doubts about what to do. can you do some of you classes online? Maybe while the baby is older and then do daycare? While finishing the program? I wish you the best!! And wohoo for your eating healthier. I actually was having trouble to get pregnant, so I did a cleanse and started a vegan diet and I think it helped!

Anyone planning to start a family before Nursing School or has?
Hey there! I love both of your ideas, the nursing and the flipping business. I will recommend getting into the nursing as soon as possible. And then do the flipping business in your 40's or 50's. It's a lots of fun and great money maker, but you need a lot of free time. As far as the pregancy, I will recommend to wait. I know we all expect to have a normal healthy pregancy, but that is not always the case. I'm a healthy person. I have a healthy lifestyle. And never in my life than I thought I will have an unhealthy pregnancy. Which kept me from working at 10 weeks, put me on bedrest at 18 weeks and hospital bedrest at 22 weeks. In this whole process, I lost one baby ( I was pregnant with twins mo-Di) the emotional and physical pain I have been will have kept me from school or any sort of activity. Also being pregnant and not having your hubby close like 30 mins close is kind of risky. Wish you the best!

Is nursing for me?
Hello everyone! I'm new here and to nursing in general. I've been working in the insurance industry for 4 years and I really liked my job. I've been planning to open my own business as an insurance agent. However, I was admitted to the hospital due to my pregnancy issues. And being here has made me want to become a nurse. I love what a nurse does and how much they do for the patients. I'm 23 years old and I've no college credits. I always wanted to become a doctor in my country (I'm from Mexico) but my father made me move to the U.S. when I was 15 years old and all the requirements here felt like too much at the time. So I gave up my dream and I was ok with that, until now. I have some dental assistance experience and I was a caregiver for 3 months. And I liked the job, but felt it was too much for the pay. So I went back to the insurance. However, now that I'm pregnant. I decided to quit my office job and go back to school. What do you think, should I go for nursing? If I've no college credits at this time, how long will it take me to get a BA in nursing? as a nurse are you able to spend time with your family? Also I have been study a guide for the HEIS exam and I love it. Thank you for your time:)
