  1. Are you in the diversion program? Or they just won't let you work certain areas? If you are in the diversion program, I see that rural facilities tend to be more accepting of that then bigger facilities.
  2. my email is [email protected], I have no idea what's going on but I appreciate you hanging in there with me hahaha
  3. My mistake missed the 4 resent it
  4. Sent you an email message
  5. I am all but ready to pull the trigger on this course, She seems so sweet and helpful, I'm just nervous about starting out, not sure why as I've wasted more money on things that don't matter haha, but any updates on how your doing with your business? have you had a hard time finding people wanting this service despite having to private pay? we are in a rural fairly poor area and I want to make sure its worth it. It's definitely needed.

I need help ASAP. I took on a position as a new DON no training for say and I’m trying to come in and fix a big mess. Don’t have much LTC experience but wanted to improve patient care. ADL’s aren’t getting done much, we are short staffed they know they won’t be let go because we are desperate need for staff (ED won’t let me) Any idea how to get them to do oral care/pericare/ even showers aren’t getting done nurses aren’t charging at all. It’s a total mess. I’d love an assignment sheet if anyone wants to share. Actually I’d take any hints to make things go smoother
  7. I went to nursing school in Texas but my initial licensure is in Oklahoma (where I tested) I did endorse over to Kansas and Texas after I got my license in Oklahoma without an issue but Kansas was super fast compared to Oklahoma in the whole process. Oklahoma maybe an extra week and a half at max honestly but it was so long ago I truly can’t say for sure.
  8. I had a dui on my record prior to nursing school. I’ve never had a problem finding a job or taking nclex. Just be honest and upfront accept responsibility and be upfront that it was not a smart move on your part aka myself lol and that you’ve learned from it say what u learned from it possibly like I am glad that I didn’t kill or seriously injure anyone else or myself and it woke me up to realize I had a problem at least worked for me
  9. Every state is slightly different. I got 2 last year and enrolled voluntarily in Knap which is a pain but worth it to keep my license. I’ve heard it’s better to do so in your own vs having it ordered by board but idk. I go to 2 AA meeting a week, monthly nurse meeting 3 hrs one way, daily checking for random ua, employee sends letter, turn in all meds I take for 3 years ughhhhh
  10. Ya not going to happen right now I'm just the education coordinator not the DON so I don't get to make those decisions but I also agree
  11. Doing fall inservice and tabs and bed alarm in service, need ideas anyone have any?
  12. We had pretty good luck so far the staff replied they really like the Jeopardy is that it's a lot of fun pretty competitive in the winner of the Jeopardy got to get their extra ticket in the pot for winning we had to break it up in teams we had nine players but we had groups of three so it worked out anyway stop really like that and they really talked about that afterwards food always gets him to cut them and doing incentive program a lot of them are very competitive about that because they don't make Much anyway
  13. I'm still fairly new at this but something that we've started is for every in-service you go to you get a ticket and your name is put into a drawing at the end of the month if your name is drawn we only draw one ticket if your name is drawn then you get a $20 gift certificate to a salon or the movie theater or restaurant or the grocery store whatever you want it's just a little extra incentive It's not in your budget to get a whole lot but we do have a staff morale fund I'm not real sure what it's called and I'm taking the money from it to use also I did the Jeopardy and my ABO in-service and just based upon what are you supposed to do with the brush and comb after you're done brushing hair you know the answer was in I'll clean it and put it away what are you drapery on the back of their neck their shoulders if they're able to sit up or in the back of the pillow and that's a towel it just gets them thinking about what they're supposed to be doing i'd be glad to use any of your ideas if you have any you want to share
  14. New to the LTC staff education department (LOL). I am the department (scary, I know). Anyway, I want to do my job effectively and make it exciting. I need ideas. My administrator is wanting me to do inservices with some of our suppliers, but right now I'm blank about any that aren't required. I need them for CNA's for sure, but am not against those for all staff. Right now, I have: abuse and neglect, disaster preparedness, fire prevention, resident rights, infection control. I'm open for any and all ideas. I'm thinking prevention of skin tears, bruising; lifts and transfers, incont. care, oral care, lifts and transfers, cognitively impaired resident. Any others?
