San Antonio
I am contemplating a move to San Antonio in a few months (already working on licensure by endorsement). After 20+years of bedside nursing, I'm looking for a 9-5 type of job( i.e. Case Mgmt, telephonic work, etc); anything that is NOT bedside nursing. Can an anyone tell me what the job outlook is for these sort of positions? Are hospitals still the best place to start looking or are there clinics, etc? I am not familiar with the facilities and the job market there. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

South Florida salary? Travel nursing better option?
I can tell you for sure that you will not be offered even close to what you make now. New grads usually start around $25/hr(average). Having one year experience may get you a couple more dollars per hour. If you choose to work night shift, you can add an average of $5/hr more. It helps, but it may not meet your expectations. You can call the hospitals in the area, and they will tell you what the pay scale is for your years of experience. They usually offer the mid point in the scale. Good luck in your move!

Health Insurance
Where in Florida will you be working? I live/work in South FL and most of the hospitals have decent benefits. I happen to be very happy (and grateful) for my insurance/benefits. I suppose that some of the non-acute/smaller facilities may not have the best benefit packages. If you can't find a commercial insurance that's suitable, I suggest that as soon as you have enough experience under your belt, you try to get a job with a hospital that has better benefits. Are you eligible to purchase insurance under "Obamacare"? I'm not sure how that works, but I believe that enrollment is once a year. An insurance agent would be able to guide you in the right direction.

Tampa pay rates
Thanks for the info. When I see a sign-on bonus that high, it usually indicates problems and usually comes with a minimum 2 year commitment. I currently live in south FL and was looking to the Tampa area due to lower cost of real estate (as compared to the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area).

Moving to South FL this summer
If your main goal is just to get some hospital experience, then it may be easier to get hired at of the "for-profit" hospitals (not my preference or recommendation). In Plantation you have 2 HCA facilities: Westside Regional Medical Center and Plantation General Hospital. I know they hired new grads as well. There is also a Tenet facility (Florida Medical Center). Both of these for-profit have a union for nurses as well. The North Broward Health System (Coral Springs, North Broward, Imperial Point, and Coral Springs) is not so bad; has had some financial and leadership issues (you can research the news) Memorial is a great place to work: the best choice in Broward county. However, since there is a surplus, they are very picky and have very high expectations. Good luck to you!

Can anyone please tell me what the pay range is in the Tampa area for an experienced RN (BSN, 20+ years experience). Thank you.

Canadian RN relocating to Florida
You did not mention which part of FL (it matters in pay and practice). I live and work in S. FL (Fort Lauderdale/Miami area). Pay is directly related to years of experience. New grads start around $24-$26/hr. Someone with 20+yrs exp. can make in the low $40's/hr. I pay very little in benefits (single/approx. $90/month); great coverage. I am lucky to be working for one of the best systems in S.Fla. It also matters if you work for a non-profit vs for-profit hospital. I hear the benefits are not so great at the "for-profit" hospitals. As far as FL being inexpensive; that's a thing of the past. South FL real estate has skyrocketed again. A one bedroom rental in a decent area will cost you 1200-1400/month (don't expect it to be luxury). I'm sure that other areas of FL may be very different in pay and cost of living.
