  1. I've heard stories going both ways.
  2. Thank you. I was completely upfront with my school and because of me disclosing it rather than them finding it they are allowing me to stay in the program thankfully. I know i made things more difficult for myself but I also know a lot of people have had Owi/dui on their record and have made it thru NCLEX and licensure but from what what the BON told me it will be a longer process. I definitely sought legal help. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it!
  3. Trust me I am thankful. I am thankful no one got hurt in this whole ordeal and as I wish I could take my decision back I cannot. I can only move forward with my life and hope that I did not mess up my career with a stupid decision and because of alcohol. I can handle the legal repercussions they are expensive but they teach you a lesson. I will not make this decision again. The consequences and guilt have taken over my life. So I can only hope this does not affect my schooling. I meet with advisor because I do not want to keep this from them. I will own my mistake and take responsibility for it and pray that they can find it in them to keep me as a student. Thank you for your info!
  4. While I appreciate your response, I know a lot of nurses that this has happened to after they have their license or prior to nursing school and they are fine. It's just the predicament I'm in currently being in school. And as I also appreciate your harsh criticism... I am hard enough on myself as it is. So if you had no feedback on the matter just dropped by to kick someone when they are already down its unnecessary
  5. When you were in school did this charge affect your clinical placement?
  6. I have not been convicted as of yet but I am almost positive I will be. In Wisconsin it is not considered a criminal offense it is a civil case. It is not even a misdimeanor. Would this still be considered a criminal offense?
  7. As far as what they wouldn't accept I assume it would be up to the individual clinical place?
  8. They do require background checks, yes.
  9. I just was wondering if anyone else has been in my shoes and what happened to them or how did they overcome this?
  10. I have and I have contacted my advisor. My advisor was unsure how it would affect me but was very understanding. As far state BON I called and spoke with them they said it would ok to get my license and take the nclex it would just be a little longer of a process
  11. Operating while under the influence
  12. I am in my first semester of nursing school in Wisconsin and three days ago received an OWI. I am a wreck. Emotional, and concerned about my future as a nurse. In the state of WI first offense OWI are not a criminal offense nor are they a misdemeanor. Does anyone have any insight if this will affect me for clinical placement?
