TWU Spring 2017 Applicants
Yeah you should be fine. Now the TEAS score is a little bit on the lower end, but you should still be good. Is that GPA your overall GPA or your nursing core GPA?

Interview Help
Okay thanks for the advice. However, I think this would also be interesting to see the kinds of people who respond and what all their job roles are. I'm sure I'll find out more about some careers I know little of.

Interview Help
So I'm taking an online course and they require me to interview a Health Care Professional, but I don't have any personal contacts. I'd appreciate if someone would be interested in answering some of these questions. No need to put your real name. I'll make one up to protect your identity. For this weeks Discussion, you are to "interview" a Health Care Professional. This can be a physician, a pharmacist, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, nurse, etc. You need to find out about: 1. What are their specific job duties 2. How long did they go to school 3. Where do they work 4. Are they happy with their choice of profession

TWU Spring 2017 Applicants
Congratulations to everyone who made it into the TWU Spring 2017 nursing semester!! Once again I am currently a first semester student at TAMUC's nursing program and the best advice I can give to those of you entering in the program is to work together form study groups. Remember, the weeding out process is already over. You are no longer competing against each other. Now you all have one goal and that is to graduate together and become nurses! Also, I'm not going to lie to you. This will be the most painful and terrifying experience you've ever had. Nothing you've taken up to this point will compare to the amount of work you will need to devote, but if you hang together and stick with it, you are certain to succeed. I myself even have to still remind myself this. Good luck in nursing school and I'll leave y'all with a quote from a personal favorite nursing YouTube channel I watch (Nursing Bass), People's live are going to be in your hands, study like it!â€

TWU Spring 2017 Applicants
If you applied to Dallas then probably not this semester, but If you applied for Houston then maybe. I recommend retaking the TEAS if you don't get in. If you do end up having to apply for the fall of '17 then I'd also recommend taking the HESI and applying for Texas A&M Commerce as well, so as to not put all of your eggs into one basket. The good news is that you have a reeeeally pretty GPA, so if you can pull up that entrance exam you'll be a rock star Sophie!

TWU Spring 2017 Applicants
Personal Update: After being rejected for Fall 2016 at TWU Dallas, I quickly took the HESI and online classes needed and applied to the Texas A&M Commerce (TAMUC) nursing program (requires HESI, college algebra, and an ethics course). I also reapplied for the TWU Dallas Spring 2017 semester. However, I was accepted for Fall 2016 at TAMUC and I begin tomorrow! I encourage all of you to keep fighting the good fight and best of luck in your application cycle with TWU. Feel free to message me with any other questions or concerns with regards to applying for TWU or TAMUC. I've also got a pluthera of information regarding that application cycle as well. Best of Luck, Azon

Houston? Pfft! Yeah dude, you've got it no problem. With your GPA and grades you should easily be able to soar in with flying colors. Now I'd even say your competitive for Dallas, but I wouldn't advise it since you don't have the student preference bonus. Also, I would like to make a prediction that the Spring 2016 semester should be much easier to get into since most of the Honor students would have likely applied for Fall 2016. I base this on the fact that they get guaranteed admittance and there would be no reason for most honor students to wait a semester longer retaking classes or taking a lighter course load. For reference, I had a 3.8 GPA and scored an 87 on the TEAS (which put me at 47.7 points). With your stats I'd say you're around the 46-47 region. For the Fall 2016 semester, the lowest accepted applicant had 35 points with the top students ranging in the mid 50s. Sche34 I recommend that you stick with applying to Houston and that you keep your chin up since you're grades probably put you easily in the top 5% of the people who are applying to Houston.

Oh yeah that class is definitely manageable by itself. I took it last semester by itself. It is a very demanding class, but there's a ton of really information in it. I would advise taking it at Denton. The teacher was pretty lenient and I heard the Parkland lady was pretty hard. I had Mouna Ben-Hamida at Denton.

So the application cycle for Spring 2017 is up, but is anyone else having a problem with NursignCAS not loading the ADD PROGRAM tab to apply?

1. That's per application cycle, but they will only be looking at your most recent score regardless which is higher. I'm not positive, but I believe you're now allowed to take the TEAS as many times as you want this semester. 2. I studied 2 weeks ahead of time. I hit the books every day (speaking of which I advise getting the ATI TEAS V study guide). Make sure to drill those practice exams like crazy. Hit up some free online ones as well. Plan out in the book how many pages you'll do per day and study the hardest on areas your not really confident on. I'm not the brightest rock in the box, but that's what I did and I ended up with an 87. Also, look up the app Pocket TEAS. It's free on android and iPhone and it lets you make custom exams (very helpful).

Texas Women University FALL 2016
I disagree because if you score below an 88, then they'll only look at that score. You at the point in the game show when you need to decide whether to go with the million dollars or keep your $650,000. You could do the extra hours during the fall or summer, but I think your time will be best spent elsewhere. Texas A&M Commerce's admission for the fall is still open until May 17th. You technically can take your HESI and apply for that now. Also, you'll have to take college algebra and general ethics over the summer to fit their core, but that's just a minor inconvenience.

Howdy Melanie, so for starters, your Pre-Req and science GPA look freaking lit! However, I'm not quite sure if your overall GPA will be a problem or not since Spring 2017 they will only be looking at your science 4.0 GPA. Below are the admission criteria to enter the program. Of course you will need a much higher score than that. It mentions nothing about the overall GPA, so I think you'll be alright. The best advice I can give you is to ask Heather Close. She is the person who deals with all of the nursing applications and admissions ([email protected]). Also, I would advise setting up an appointment with her to get some face time and she may even give you some more advice on how to boost your score. Also, aim for an 85 or higher on your TEAS V.Lastly, have you thought of applying to Texas A&M commerce? They have, for the most part, the same prereqs as TWU.

Sooooo... For all ya'll waitlister rejects like myself, I started the TWU Spring 2017 Applicants forum! Hope to cya there!

TWU Spring 2017 Applicants
Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores. For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain). Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester. Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout. Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS) Houston lowest accepted: 35pts Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns. Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Yeah, my advisor listed that as an option, but just make sure that you nail those classes/exam because they do take your most recent grade.
-
Texas Women University FALL 2016
No, actually that's confirmed. They are changing it to nursing core only for sure. Unfortunately that jacks me up taking my 3.8 GPA and dropping it to a 3.65, but it'll probably be doing that with a lot of people.

Texas Women University FALL 2016
Well, while this is all unfortunate for us, I for one am planning on taking advantage of the situation and (in the event I don't make Texas A&M Commerce in the fall) I plan to work the whole semester to save up for Spring nursing classes. Heather did mention that the average amount of students who apply in the spring is significantly lower and that the lowest score accepted is also much lower as well. Maybe with the amount of honor's students who applied this fall there will be much less applying in the spring. I mean think about it; what student, if guaranteed admittance, would wait a semester to apply for nursing school if they're ready in the fall? That would mean they were likely a semester behind for some reason and I don't see that being many honor's students. Sure it's undesirable to wait, but on the other hand (if we take advantage of the situation and work damage control) we could turn this loss into profit.

Texas Women University FALL 2016
Alright, so I just finished my meeting with my nursing advisor and she filled me in with a lot of interesting information regarding this semester and the next. • Dallas Fall 2016 135 accepted students (40 of which where guaranteed admittance due to honors courses. 5 of those students would not of had enough points to be accepted had they not been in the honor's program), 51.1 points was the lowest accepted student (semesters prior 43pts. was the average lowest). There was a total of 803 applicants across all 3 campuses. Only 1 student declined application and 1 student failed to respond. Unfortunately, no wait listed students are expected to be accepted this semester. •Houston Fall 2016 Lowest accepted applicant had 35 points. 145 students were accepted this semester. •Spring 2017 To to clear up on rumors, there are no extra points given to people who reapply. The deadline for the Spring semester is August 15th and you can expect the application to be available on NursingCAS around mid May. The advisor also expected acceptance letters to be sooner (around mid-September). The good news is that for those who applied this semester NursingCAS remembers all of your information and you don't need to resubmit a transcript or your personal information. There is a change in NursingCAS's program materials, so that will have to be filled out. Lastly, next semester TWU will only be looking at your Nursing Core GPA and will no longer look at your Prerequisite GPA. (Last Spring there were only 16 honor's students, around 20 students who declined and the lowest accepted points was 41.7)
